Well, I were a tourist there so this market is for us. We could see many beautiful clothes, silver jewelry, blankets, food market also and many colorful things. It`s a big place and the tour bus didn`t give us much time to look around, but you have time to take some pictures and buy some gifts if you like it.

After a wonderful scenic drive to the Sacred Valley we arrived to Pisac Market through impossibly narrow streets. It is funny to watch the dogs who know to hop into a doorway to make room for the bus. The narrow street leads into a small town center which holds a packed colorful market. The market is open on Sunday, Tuesday and Thursday. Have plenty of coins available to take photographs of the local children. Behind the market is the entrance to see the ruins, this is good practice if you are going to travel on to Machu Picchu at a later date. The steps are are many and when you reach the top at around 9700 feet you have a spectacular view. One side has a plunging gorge where you can see crops and greenery as far as the eye can see, and other views of the ruins on the other sides., including the Urubamba River. Coming down you have the step walls to hang on to so it is easy to descend. Washroom facilities are basic, bring your own kleenex. Worth the trip for the views, ruins and market.

Worth the visit as it has a wonderful selection of Peruvian handicrafts plus some wonderful photo opportunities of women and children in traditional costumes with babies and lambs. You just give them some money and they are happy.

Pisac market is an enjoyable outdoor market filled with 50-100 vendors on a Thursday afternoon when we visited. Merchandise ranged from scarves, sweaters, blankets, small dolls, key chains, t-shirts and numerous other knick- knacks. The quality of the clothing is average and do not have labels denoting their contents and care. Bargaining is definitely expected. This is a good place to buy souvenirs or an extra sweater. (I paid $16 for a long sleeve wool sweater.)

Be careful while walking around the market as the walkways have trenches in the middle to help drain rain water. They are approx. 4" wide and 10" deep. If you are not careful and too busy looking at the merchandise in the stalls, you could step in a trench and easily break an ankle or worse! The trenches also run along the edge of the walkways too.
