“Probably ok...if you get a room without bugs”
Reviewed September 28, 2011

Stayed here as part of a tour when visiting Machu Picchu. We must have had about 12 rooms all together for our group and there were definitely mixed feelings about the place.
Personally my room was ok...VERY basic, old beds which squeeked every time you turned over and the only plug was in the bathroom, BUT my room was clean.
Others were not so lucky. My friend who was staying in another room send me a txt in the middle of the night saying "This is the most VILE, disgusting place I have ever stayed in my entire life" She had a room infested with bugs!
Probably not somewhere I'd stay again!

We stayed here as a part of a tour. I was our favorite part of the trip. The room consist two rooms connected by a small sitting area. This was perfect as we were traveling with our three small children. The breakfasts were great, there was plenty of hot water and the views were amazing. The kids will never forget the hotelndog, Robbie. Thank you so much for a great stay.

We enjoyed our stay in this lodge, convenient for visiting the ruins and town with lovely views of the surrounding mountains. Room adequate and equipped well enough. It was spoiled though in a number of ways by a surly receptionist, dogs running in and out of the kitchen, dog muck left festering on door mat by our bedroom, staff too ignorant to pick it up and the final sting in the tail when we changed our plans and decided not to return a few days later still charged the room to our account.

We stayed here for 1 night before doing the Inka trail.
The stay was included in our tour package so I'm not sure how much we actually paid for the room...
The lodge was very nice and clean... the room was spacious and bright, showers were good... the breakfast was nice too.
We were the only 2 guests at the lodge that night, which seemed a bit odd.

This was part of a tour package so I don't know what we paid for the room. The hotel is a block or two from the main square and is not much too look at from the outside. Inside they have a nice courtyard which is well kept. No other guests the night we were there. Room was small but clean. No tv in room. Staff was nice and they had a very good breakfast but did insist we check out on time eventhough nothing else was going on. They let us hang out in the nice tv area while we waited for our train. It's a very pretty place with mountains on both sides ofthe hotel. No problems with bugs like others had.

We stayed in Ollaytantambo for one night at this hotel after visting M.P. We were worn out after the early morning out and about, and got to the hotel mid afternoon. The surrounding area of the hotel was a little rough, but as three women traveling together we felt safe once we were inside the grounds. The courtyard was cute and had several sitting areas and the frog game.

The room was large enough for our three beds, and the water was hot after a minute or two warm up. We found that leaving the bathroom light on attracted bugs from somewhere, but we weren't sure from where. Our answer was turn off the light and close the bathroom door. The bed linens were clean and the hotel itself was very quiet. The t.v. in our room didn't work, so we went to the bar/restaurant in the evening. It was nice to relax and we discovered that we could watch their dvds for free, several of which were in english with spanish subtitles. After turning on Pirates of the Caribbean, we had a ready made movie night as several guests stopped by to watch too.

The internet was okay, but unreliable of when it would work. The courtyard gave views of some of the ruins and surrounding mountains and at night, a sky filled with stars unobstructed by city lights. (Amazing!!)

Word of caution: since they don't take credit cards, you have to pay in cash (soles or dollars), and when paying with dollars make sure you have perfect bills.

Decent hotel well situated for the start of the Inca Trail in the village of Ollantaytambo. The village itself is small and attractive, and includes one of the most famous Inca archaeological sites. I imagine most travellers wouldn't spend more than a night here, because of the location, but it's certainly a good place to stay if you're heading for the Inca Trail head at km 82 first thing in the morning. The village is also on the train line from Cusco to Machu Picchu for those who aren't trekking to the famous lost city.

The rooms are reasonably sized and clean, nothing outstanding but perfectly nice for a one or two night stay. There are en suite bathrooms of adequate standard, although the showers were cold at night (warm in the morning - time your shower accordingly!). There's a small restaurant serving unremarkable but pleasant and reasonably priced food, and there was a good selection at the buffet breakfast (though queues got very long). The lodge has a grassy area in the centre which was is often busy so the rooms can be a little noisy.

Whilst this is not a grand hotel, it's location and the fact that travellers are unlikely to stop here for more than a night or two makes it a good bet if you are passing through Ollantaytambo.
