“Nicest hotel stay in Peru”
Reviewed August 17, 2013

My husband and I stayed here after a few days off he beaten path and the luxury of this hotel was just what we needed. Big king size bed, great shower, beautiful grounds. Even complimentary snacks! We were also glad to have the restaurant right there in the hotel. Breakfast was great - fresh fruit, eggs, cereal, juice. Very content with our stay.

The rooms were a little rustic but very charming and good size. The setting was perfect. Areas to sit and enjoy the scenery. The onsite restaurant was good as was the breakfast buffet. We would love to go back and spend more time there. Only drawback is there was no heat, but the front desk supplied space heaters upon request and that did the trick.

Great little hotel in fabulous grounds with easy access to the station. We ate here after a long day travelling to the town and climbing the ruins. Dinner was good value and prices typical if not slightly lower than other hotels we'd stayed in. The three llamas were tethered the afternoon we arrived but a nice surprise to see them roaming the grounds at breakfast.

We spent a month travelling around Peru and this is probably the best hotel we stayed at. The atmosphere and character is great, it is very picturesque, peaceful (especially once the day tourists depart) and could not fault this hotel. The rooms are spacious and more than adequate with comfortable firm beds. We loved the lounge area with its big open fire, sofas, and a barman willing to mix drinks that were not on the menu. The restaurant was also great as we chose to have our evening meal there instead of walking 5-10 minutes into the centre of the local village.
Don't forget to see the three resident lawn mowers - aka 3 alpacas that live in the grounds.

Pakaritampu was our first hotel stop in Peru, and I could not have asked for a better, more relaxing initiation (especially after a redeye flight to and couple hours' windy car ride from Cusco).

The town of Ollanta is charming and even picturesque in some ways, but it has its fair share of traffic and SERIOUS car exhaust (from an endless parade of motokars and transport vans going to and from the train station). While this hotel is located right near the chaos that tend to form around the station (it's a couple of small blocks away from the station entrance - great for catching some extra zzz's before catching that morning train to Machu Picchu), it provides the perfect oasis from the outside bustle. Upon entering the hotel grounds, there's nothing but tranquility (and meticulously landscaped gardens, terraces and alpacas!).

The staff here are simply amazing. "Ask and thou shalt receive" must be their motto. By the end of our 2 night stay, I pretty much thought of the reception hut as my personal magic hat. Coco tea? Of course. Space heater? No problem! Leave luggage overnight while we go to Machu Picchu (even though we weren't staying at the hotel upon our return)? Standard procedure. You can even buy toiletries, water and other practical items here. In retrospect I wish I had asked for a fluffier pillow (probably my only complaint about this place).

They even made some recommendations and booked us a reasonably priced (and very last minute) private car for a half-day trip to visit Moray and the salt mines at Maras (we skipped Pisac market but have no regrets at all). The driver, Narciso, often works with the hotel and was wonderful! He doesn't speak English but was attentive and great company, taking us through a road less traveled (we were the only car for miles!) with breathtaking views of the valley and making strategic photo stops for us. I don't know where else to make a pitch for his services, so here's my high recommendation :)

Room Tip: In our room bordering the back gardens, you can hear the running water of the creek (can be calming...

This is a lovely hotel with beautiful surroundings. It was the best hotel we stayed in after a month in South America. The grounds are stunning. The staff were very polite and attentive. Meals (breakfast and dinner) were great. This is one of the nicest hotels I have ever stayed in.

Quiet and out of the downtown, near the train station and the ruins and restaurants, the location and facility are perfect. A lovely and very helpful staff. The rooms are simple but neat and well lit with good windows. It was perfect for 4 nights.
