This charming Bed and Breakfast is within the train station so getting to the train was no problem at all.

The guest room was quaint and kind of old timey feeling, especially the super creaky floor and bed. Honestly when the train isn't running this is a very quite area and each step I took to and from the bathroom at night or each time I rolled over in my bed I felt very sorry for the folks in the room next door. The bedding was crisp and clean, the bed was right out of another era. Really quite uncomfortable, kind of lumpy and real firm...

The hot water for the shower was hit and miss alternately shockingly cold water or scalding hot.

The breakfast was very good, (fresh blueberry jam for the toast) we also had dinner in the restaurant, and it was...okay. They did have live music which was a real treat, a single musician playing a traditional style "harp" and singing. I really enjoyed that.

The hotel is directly located at the train station, with access through the train station, with the consequence of some noise from the trains, and the big advantage that the train connection to Machu Picchu is just perfect. The staff was very helpful and friendly, the room (no 11, to the back with a veranda and view to the wonderful garden) was quiet, spacious and clean. Internet was working (slowly). The restaurant is excellent, reservation may be advisable. Separate parking is available, a 150 m away.

Room Tip: A room with a view to the wonderful garden has a veranda and is quiet

My wife and I spent two days at El Albergue Ollantaytambo. First, Ollantaytambo is a cute Peruivan Village with access to some fantastic ruins. Paull, our tour guide which was arranged by El Abergue, accompanied us to the Ollantaytambo ruins and the next day to Machu Picchu. We highly recommend Paull; he is reliable, knowledgable, and assidious to all of our needs. For example, my wife has issues with her back, and Paull carefully developed a route of MP and helped to navigate my wife throughout our tours.

Natalia, contact person at El Albergue, provided invaluable assistance in purchasing the MP entrance tickets, providing important train information, scheduling our tour guide, arranging transportation from Cusco to MP, and guiding us at the traditional Pachamanca lunch. She was great in every way.

The accommodations were good for our purposes. The shower, bed, and furniture were adequate, albiet, not luxurious. The views of the snow capped Andes from our balcony room, #13, were fantastic.

The hotel's breakfast including a choice of eggs, French toast, or pancakes; juice, fruits, and various breads was more than adequate. We had dinner at the hotel's restaurant and found it to be fair. The Pachamanca lunch, traditional Peruivan rock-cooked meal, was a wonderful experience.

The most important asset of this hotel was its proximity to the train station, it is adjacent to it. On our morning trip to MP, we were able to easily board the train 15 minutes before it departed--a real convenience.

We would definitely stay in this hotel again!!!

Room Tip: Room 13 has great views and is quiet.

Ok, so we stayed here almost 3 years ago, but it was so good and the service was so helpful that I promised I would write a review. So I'm a bit late. If everything is still the same, this would be my favorite hotel (more like a boutique hotel) anywhere, including Fairmonts, Westins, Sheratons, etc. The location is so amazing, don't make the mistake of only staying long enough to visit Machu Picchu. Make sure you have a couple of days to stay here and explore, or even a week if you want to relax and explore the valley. The staff can line you up with some interesting activities.

Room Tip: Get any one of the deluxe rooms, they are still very reasonably priced. Rooms only accommodate a ma...

Great location in front of train, hotel rooms are spacious, beautiful and private, you feel as if you are sleeping in a wonderful garden with great views of the mountains. The staff was exceptional. Breakfast and dinner was delicious. Pachamanca Lunch is a MUST it was so nice seeing the traditional ways of cooking, walking through the farm, learning and tasting the organic fruits & vegetables all private and surrounded by mountain views. Can't beat this hotel.

Room Tip: Room # 7 is a private bungalow nice cozy two beds with a great view.

Excellent service, great accommodations, great rooms, I thought that it was going to be very noise with the train since the hotel is infront if the train station. Didn't hear the train and I slept very well.
