We stayed there 4 nights before M-Picchu and 2 on our way back

They are having at the front of the Hostal a massive construction ..
and that only can brush you off ... Simply don't be afraid !
Keep moving in ... and you will find an inner gem , the Garden !

Construction :
don't start before 9 am and finish around 6 Pm.. so never bothered us.

Room :
Because of low season , we could check rooms and we took the room 25 ,
a 3 persons room it's just in Front of Garden and that is where WiFi works best ...
- Owner shut off Wifi around 10 PM ..
but I asked if we could let in on a bit and i will shut it off myself when done, he agreed.

Rooms were all clean,
with Hot Shower ( from early morning until 9 pm )
I believe they are just Saving Energy type of people ... I like it.

Afternoon Tea / Raining day :
We asked couple of times asked for hot drinking water for tea ...
which they provided with cups ... free of charge !

Break fast :
Due to Construction , there is no Break fast
but there are plenty of place next doors where you can feed yourself

Overall ;
a pleasant stay ..
will stay again ... actually we did stay again as said previously ;-)

Room Tip: Room 25 For Better wifi

We stayed at Andenes for a couple of nights. The location is great-close to the plaza/restaurants/ruins/train station (well, Ollanta is not that big, anyway) and the rates were unbeatable. The room/bathroom was very clean. The owner/staff were very helpful (despite us not speaking much Spanish and them not speaking much English). One downside- breakfast wasn't included but, there are plenty of reasonable choices nearby. Would recommend Los Andenes (and Ollanta) any day.
Note: they arranged for pick up from the Cusco airport for about $40.

From what I understand, there are newer rooms, perhaps if we had stayed in one of those we might have been happier with our stay. We stayed here the night before our 4-day hike to Macchu Picchu. We didn't choose, it was included in our trip itinerary. It was just ok, not my type of accomodation. I'm NOTa 5-star gal, but I like when everything looks really clean. The room was very worn, the bed was very uncomfortable and the bathroom was kinda yuck. I guess considering where we were, this hotel was fine, especially for $23. The breakfast was pretty good - especially the crepes!

Room Tip: Ask for a newer room

We are a family of 5 and recently enjoyed a 5 night stay at the Hostal Andenes. We had two rooms (a matrimonial and a triple) and everything was great. The rooms were colorful and clean, the hosts (Maria and her husband) friendly, and the location perfect. The Hostal is 1 block to the Plaza de Armas and next door to the Heart's Cafe. Everything is within walking distance. It was the perfect place for us and we would definitely stay there again in the future.

This hostel was clean, and very comfortable. It was not the cheapest place in town, but for only 70 soles it was a great deal. The family that runs it is very helpful and offered to store our bags for a couple days while we headed to Machu Picchu and also helped to finish drying our laundry because the nearby lavanderia wasn´t able to. The hotel is right by the ruins and very close to the train station as well. We already have plans to stay here again when we return to Ollantaytambo.

Room Tip: Rooms by the garden are newer and quiet.

I stayed in this hostal several time with my group, first time it was 10 years ago. Before it was really simple accommodation, but now it is getting better and better - especialy newest rooms in the garden. It is my peruvian home with friendly and helpful family.

Room Tip: rooms in the garden

This is a small family run place. The manager, Felix, was really helpful directing us to an internet cafe (we had to buy/print tickets). Even if you don't speak Spanish (like me) he really tries to do his best to understand and help. You may want to let them know if you'll be out late since most of the hotels lock up fairly early & you have to ring the bell to wake them up to let you in. But what really makes me remember this place is that I checked out & left my ring on the bed. We left town, realized my mistake, came back & it was still there. Felix was so nice & comforting and I was relieved after being a mess for an hour.

On a different note, Hearts Cafe next door has amazing banana pancakes - inch thick, perfect buttery crispness, & I'm generally not partial to pancakes.
