I stayed here so ate at the restaurant a few times - breakfast was always tasty and fresh, I tried the alpaca steak for dinner one evening and it was absolutely delicious, along with the 2-for-1 Pisco sours at happy hour. Nice cosy environment, with a harp singer for background music and very friendly service.

Fresh food, prepared in an expo kitchen (you can see how clean it is, and that they don't use anything that's prepackaged!) and the ambiance of the sitting area is just perfect.

Although we had pre-ordered from a set menu, as a large group (20 of us), it appeared to be all a bit too much for the staff. My main course of chicken and mushroom was quite tasty but my colleague was offered linguine with a cheese sauce, where the whole dish was cold and the sauce clearly knocked up from a powdered packet. Their reaction to the cold meal issue was to pop it in the microwave for 45 seconds. It came back still inedible and was left.

Situated on the railway platform, El Albergue does offer something a bit different, but we did walk past several other good looking restaurants to get to it and came away feeling we had 'wasted' the evening.

When you get tired of Lomo Saltados El Alberge is a good change of pace. Their menu is very creative, with nice selection of Italian and Andean cusine. We tried the famous brownie and ended ups stopping here on our way to Machu Picchu and on the way back because our kid loved it so much. I had the Papa Rellena which was awesome , pesto pasta was tried by our daughter which was standard nothing amazing and also an alpaca burger which was pretty dry.
They do have pretty good espresso, machiatto etc.The caramel filled cookies at the El Map is also pretty good albeit messy to eat.

It is pretty expensive, especially the wine. But nice to have a quiet dinner because of the ambience.

In the dining room Jennifer and Christian provided really good assistance with food and drink recommendations and service. The food prepared was wonderful starting with their own organic vegetables from the hotel's farm.
The complimentary breakfasts started each day in a very positive way. Do not miss the pancakes.
We were so impressed with the food and service that we ate every meal at El Albergue and were very pleased.

Thank Steve S
