“Lovely!”
Reviewed May 13, 2013

We thoroughly enjoyed our visit to Samanapaq with our 2 children, aged 2 and 4. As it turns out, we were the only ones there one night, and there was one other couple another night (slow season, though I don't know why, as it was lovely). The beauty of the gardens cannot be overstated--there are many separate areas, some connected, others to discover by chance. Sunn open areas, a meditation spiral, hammocks, a living tunnel, and flowers everywhere. Magical!!

The breakfast was a wonderful buffet of everything (bread, fruit, juices, cheese, eggs to order)....and this was even presented when we were the only ones there. We never felt rushed. The building is inspired and artful, inside and out. Since we had kids (one who wakes up early), we really took advantage of the ability to spend time in the other house area, or out in the gardens. Much better than being trapped in a room worrying about bothering other guests.

The location is great, close to town. The only downside is the intense traffic just outside the door (not heard from inside the Hostal). It is a small dirt road but there are tourist vans and cars and buses all the time, and even as fit people, we had to really scurry to make sure we could cross the road safely. Strange to complain about traffic in such a tiny tiny town, but there are not many streets for the traffic to run on.

We still daydream about our stay here, it was just wonderful all around. The staff were also very helpful.

Oh, thought I did just remember one thing--there was a dog there who barked at all hours just outside our door. However, I think this is not usual, as the owners were not there, so I think the dog was lonely.

Room Tip: Overlooking back gardens.

Located on the outskirts of Ollantaytambo, this B&B is a delightful place with super rooms, constant hot water, very good breakfast, and friendly & helpful personnel. Speaking English is no problem. What's more, they were concerned for me when I got sick from the altitude. Fully recommended.

I'm so glad I checked Trip Advisor before my trip. Everyone raved about this jewel and I can see why. The grounds and gardens are spectacular. The owner and the staff were welcoming, accomodating and very friendly. A special thanks to Jonathon. The breakfast was fantastic. They offered a wide variety and everything was very fresh. The location is great. Close enough to walk anywhere, yet far enough to have a good night's rest. I highly recommend it.

Place was very clean, the staff was over the top friendly and they accommodated our every need. I looked forward to the breakfast every morning and the proximity to the Peru Rail was ideal. Will definitely be returning

This hotel has some nice simple rooms in a beautiful garden setting. The owners were very friendly and helpful and having access to all the landscaped grounds and common areas gave the place a 'stay with the family' type of feel. The breakfast was a served in a beautiful room that stocked a plentiful cold buffet with eggs cooked to order. The rooms were basic with plenty of space and comfortable beds. The The only knocks against this hotel were: it was a bit noisy at times when the large trucks come through the town, although the stone wall did block most of the street noise and there is no TV in the room.

Room Tip: Rooms away from the main street are quieter.
