Puka Rumi gets a gold star for their Alpaca Steak dinner, which was my favorite meal during the week we spent in Peru. My wife enjoyed her burrito. Reasonably priced and great food.

Food was good, service and atmosphere were mediocre. El Albergue is a much, much better choice. Easy to get to, just off town plaza. Be careful walking there - narrow, busy street.

Our very first meal in Peru was here-and we were somewhat jet-lagged at the time and trying to eat lightly! We stopped in mid afternoon and were one of only two groups eating. It is very small and obviously prepared as ordered so we did wait awhile. We all had soup (which was okay) and fries (which were delicious). We heard so many wonderful recommendations from locals about Puka Rumi that we wanted to try it for dinner but just never got back to it. The lodge where we stayed told us it was the best place to eat a steak in town.

Sharon had eaten here 4 years ago, loved it but had heard they'd been sold and moved to another location in town. Having worked up a good appetite at the Pisac markets we decided to contnue to Ollantaytambo and search for the reincarnation of this restaurant.
We quickly found it on the right hand side just before you enter the main square ... we were so happy we did.
The decor is typically Peruvian, clean and tidy, friendly helpful staff, and the menu offers all posibilities at modest pricing. We chose the vegetarian options ... burritos, causa, tacos ... washed down with a couple of glases of good Peruvian wine.
The food was incredibly fresh, really tasty, with generous serves.
For us, Puka Rumi was one of the more delicious and authentic meals we had in Peru.
I'd recommend it whole-heartedly and if ever back in Olly again, we will be definitely revisiting this terrific restaurant.

We came here at the recommendation of the hotel in which we stayed. It's located near the entrance of the ruins in Ollanta. The food was good and plentiful and the interior is very interestingly decorated.

The only minus was that their pin machine didn't work and we had to pay cash (actually we were lucky that we took some money with us, we were planning to only take the credit card as it was advertised that they accept CC). Not a big problem though.
