My husband Peter and I ate two meals and one evening of desserts at Hearts Café and were very pleased with each experience! For the two early evening meals we chose vegetarian sandwiches, from several available options, made with this absolutely fabulous bread. The service was great with friendly and helpful wait staff who spoke reasonable English, and, unlike our other meals in Peru, the appealingly arranged and hearty food arrived promptly. We sat on the third floor at a cozy window seat so we could watch the happenings on the street below while dining and lingering for some time afterwards. The price was not much less than what we would pay in Austin, Texas, for vegetarian fare, but, unlike some travelers, we did not expect super cheap prices. In addition, I have yet to find one of Austin’s many hippy dippy café’s whose food is better than, or even comparable to, Hearts Café.
I highly recommend Hearts Café for its food, ambiance and mission.
