Choquequirao is so difficult to get to that there will be very few people visiting: maybe 15 people the day we were there vs. 3000 at Machu Picchu. Most of what you will see at Choquequirao is reconstructed...much of it badly done. It is still worth visiting. Anyone visiting this site would be making a huge mistake to miss the "Llama Terraces" on the other side of the mountain from the main venue. These terraces are essentially 100% original. You will see nothing like this at Machu Picchu or at any other Inca site. It was one of the highlights of our entire trip. The Choquequirao site is huge and only a tiny part of it has been developed. Lets hope greater care is taken in "restoring" the remainder of this area.
