This was my final meal in Peru and, really, the last thing I did before heading out to the airport. I ate on the outdoor terrace and was quite comfortable for late May. They had some patio heaters on at the edge of the terrace to keep the area warm and cozy. I thought the food was good, not great, nicely presented by an attentive wait staff. I had, perhaps, built up my expectations a bit too high.
My table was set back from the outer edge of the terrace - maybe unavoidable since I was dining alone - and the platform is situated at an angle to the main part of the ruins. Although beautifully lighted, the pyramid is "over there" to the left of the terrace as you face out. If you're seated on the outer row of tables, at least some of the party will be looking directly at the ruins while eating. From where I was seated, I had to look over and past quite a few tables and diners and take in the small bit that was visible.
I did, of course, wander around a bit with my camera between courses and got some great pictures, but the experience wasn't quite the magical one I had anticipated. On balance, however, it was a fitting way to end my Peruvian visit and I'm glad I did it.
