No one comes here for the view. On one side is the airport terminal; on the other side is a parking lot. It is a safe hotel directly across the street from the airport. The staff is very helpful with luggage to and from the terminal. The restaurant was surprisingly good, even if the Pisco Sour was from a mix in a big jug. Is it really too much to ask that these top-drawer hotels actually squeeze a lime for the drink? Security is omnipresent, with burly guards stationed at all points of access. This is both good and bad: good because you do feel safe, and bad because you realize that the streets are unsafe. But you did not come to Peru thinking that you were going to North Dakota, yes? The room we stayed in was spartan, sort of what you would expect to find in a cheap hotel anywhere else.

Arrived at 2pm from Cusco, with a 6 am flight the next morning back to the US. A bit pricey (OK, a lot pricey) but good bed, good soundproofing, convienient to the airport restaurants and a 2 minute walk to international check-in. Just what I needed at the end of a 2 week trip to Peru. Highly recommended.

We arrived at the Costa del Sol late in the evening, after an exhausting day of travel from our Amazon trip. We had no reservations, just showed up tired and hoping for a comfortable room at an affordable rate. We received excellent treatment from the entire staff: at the front desk, the bellboy, room service, bartender. The meal we ordered from room service was great and the complimentary Pesco Sours we had at the bar were the best in Peru. The proximity to the airport and the ease of checking in at 3:30 am for our 5:30 am flight home could not be beat by staying virtually across the street from the airport. We literally wheeled our luggage cart right over there. When we returned to the States, I thought I'd left a pair of troussers behind in the room and emailed the hotel to check their Lost & Found. They immediately and courteously responded to my enquiry, which I really appreciated despite the fact that I found the pants in my husband's laundry.

On arrival at Arequipa Airport we were informed that our flight to Lima was delayed from 11:15 to 2:15pm. Consequently we would miss our connection to Cusco. LAN staff rebooked our Lima to Cusco flights to the following day. Our party was provided with vouchers for lunch at Arequipa and dinner and overnight accomodation at the Airport Ramada Hotel in Lima.

At the Restaurant in the Arequipa airport the voucher was limited to ether soup or a beef stir fry dish (which was overcooked and shrivelled). At dinner that evening we ate in the hotel dining room and handed over our vouchers. The waiter was surly and unhelpful. He initially said that the only meal available was the same beef dish that we had eaten for lunch. I explained to him that we had already eaten that dish today and wanted an alternative. He then said we could have a fish dish which we then took. Our voucher provided us with a drink and we requested water. The waiter supplied a jug of water and glasses. I asked him if the water in the jug was mineral water which he said it was. I had noticed that another large party in the restuarant all had individual bottled water provided.

In the 24 hours after this meal I developed a severe gastric upset and believe the source was the water provided in the jug or other contaminant from the kitchen.

I wanted you to know about the substandard behaviour of the waiter in the the restaurant.

I believe that rather than specifying a particular dish it would be better to put a value on the voucher and enable the voucher holder to choose from the menu and pay the difference in cost if they selected a meal of greater value. We would certainly have been more satisfied with such an arrangement and the waiter may have been more cooperative.

Flight to Cusco was delayed (a common occurence) so had to spend an unexpected night at the airport. The location is fantastic, literally meters from the terminal. Rooms clean and spacious. There was no hot water, common in Peru but unexpected in a place this expensive. At US $200+ a complete rip off. Only in emergencies.
