The area offers a lot amenities, especially Wongs supermarket and a big bank and secure/guarded ATM. American chain restaurants nearby did not add appeal for us. The area is bustling with cars, wide avenues, uninteresting buildings and shops. We asked hotel staff for advice on where to walk in Miraflores and were directed to a street just past Wongs and to the left, a very unappealing street to walk on. We then asked a few locals where the heart of Miraflores was and found our way there but we did not find it to be very interesting. We did find great restaurants but not much more, there was aggressive traffic, ugly buildings, and preoccupied locals pushing their way down busy sidewalks.

Room was bleh- deeply marinated in old cigarette smoke, ancient linens, hastily cleaned, prior occupants' toothpaste blobs on bathroom floor. Pillows so old that the innards had turned into lumps, it made me squirm to wonder just hold they were- decades? AC worked, thankfully as it is very hot and humid in Lima.

Staff was friendly. Breakfast was ok, nothing special.

I would not stay again as Miraflores was not very interesting, and was hoping it was a quick drive from the airport. Nothing is a quick drive from the airport here- it is a long (1 hr at 9pm) congested , hot sticky 15 km taxi ride. Traffic is bad, it seems, at most times of day.

Taxi drivers at airport are aggressive and relentless. Brace yourself. You have to haggle. We managed to get to 45 soles down from 55. We wondered if you walk the short distance out of the airport to the busy street nearby if you could get something cheaper.

We were given a very nice room on third floor. It had a small refridgerator and a microwave. They furnish little bars of soap but no shampoo. The people who work at the desk are most acommodating. Super nice and out to please. Only problem was, they spoke very little English.

One of the nicest thing about the location of this hotel is that it is walking distance to a very large market. Only 5 minutes walk. Also, there is public transportation close by you can take to the center of the city Lima. The hotel is not far from the ruin you may want to visit. And best of all, you can walk from the hotel to the ocean! That would take you about 20 minutes to walk.

The complimentary breakfast that Betsy hotel offers has much to improve. It is located on the 6th floor with a decent view of the city. But when you get into the dining room there is no one there...just tables and maybe some cups and saucers with salt and sugar on the tables. The buffet table is completely bare. The waiter/waitress is nowhere to be seen. I finally had to knock on a door that led to the kitchen to ask for service. They ask you if you want this or that and you tell them yes or no. Then they bring you the bread butter/jam and the requested scrambled / fried egg and cheese / ham. Oh yes, and orange juice / papaya juice or hot tea / coffee. And if you want seconds on bread, they bring you only the bare minimum of one. Very few customers eat there. In fact, the three days we were there we saw only one other customer in the dining room. Not a very cozy atmosphere for sure.

Would I come back to Hotel Betsy? Ummmm...I'll think about it.

Room tip: The WIFI works better on higher floors.

A simple & quiet hotel to stay in far away from home. Located in heart of Lima: Miraflores, adjacent to BBVA Continental Bank and Wong Super-market just 1 block where you can get almost everything for daily life. Not only the super-market, other famous chain restaurants are just 1-2 blocks away.

The entrance of the hotel is small like a private door kept closed for safety reasons (though there's no fear of any danger in this area of Lima). On the entrance you will find seating arrangement with someone to help you out to get to your room located in back part of the reception building. Yes behind this building is another building for the guests with a nice planned garden in front of it. You can visit the hotel's website to get a real view of the hotel; it is exactly as the pictures on their website.

The staff is helpful especially the lady at the reception who works from morning 7 till afternoon 3 who can be seen is more happier than anyone whenever she helps her guests; truely you will feel happy from heart when you see a staff so much happy to help you. The room had a bed, dressing table, a chair, a microwave so that you can also cook some food, utensils, air-conditioner (rarely found in any budget hotel in Lima), cup-board, refridgerator, bathroom with a hair dryer & toiletries. As I am a pure vegetarian, availability of the microwave was a boon to me as I could cook my food myself (buy food from Wong Super-market right next to the hotel) as I stayed there for about 20 days for business. It also has a room for meeting & another room with 2 computers equipped with internet & printer for the guests. Location of the hotel is quite easy & well-known by the taxi drivers in Peru.

Cons: the room smelled foul at sometimes; i guess the smell came from the bed-sheet or somewhere from the quilt. Some days the cuckoo & pigeons that stayed nearby hotel used to create lot of noice disturbing the sleep if you get awake by the slightest sound. The breakfast (for a vegetarian & staying 20 days) is not so good, has very very limited option - only hard buns, tea/coffee, butter/jam, papaya/apple - the same for 20 days continuously is too boring. Also they serve you the breakfast on table whatever you want & is not in buffet style. The breakfast area is on the top floor (forth floor) with gaps in the roof - so sometimes in winter is very cold during breakfast. Apart from it, I dont remember any issues with the hotel.

Room tip: I guess all are same, not much difference

This hotel is well located, as a lot of other reviewers have said, reasonably priced and the rooms are very comfortable. Just be warned that the staff do not speak English (but they interpreted my miming pretty well) and there is NO HEATING! This seems to be par for the course in Lima, so if you come in winter, like I did, pack your woolliest pyjamas and a hot water bottle!
The room was well appointed and as I had a room at the back, not too bad for noise. There was plenty of hot water, the towels were enormous but that was balanced out by the tiny TV (to which my remote didn't work). But as there were only about to channels in English, it wasn't a huge issue.

Room tip: Try and get one at the back on a middle floor. Breakfast is served from 6:00am on the 6th floor so I wouldn't really want to be in the 5th!
