I have stayed several times at Casa Barco, but I am on business and not on holiday, unfortunately. My job site was just 15 minutes south of the hotel, so it was very convenient for me vs going all the back to Lima everyday. The owner and staff are very friendly. Unlike Mr. Mullen, the owner Felix was present almost everyday and ensuring things were in order. This is a $60/night place, so not a 5 start resort, but it has a wonderful view of the ocean, large patios with chairs and hammocks, an open bar and the food is good, not over priced in my opinion. While I was there I was able to make special requests off the menu, but we were a small group and it was not the busy season. The art work, which was all done by the owner's wife, is somewhat risque but certainly not offendable. She did all of it, from paintings, ceramic, wood, table settings, pottery, etc..., and if you take the time to look at it closely you would be impressed, and I am not an art ficionado per se. Great little place and I can highly recommend it.

Casabarco Hostal, Punta Hermosa, Lima, Peru
This hostal is "almost beachfront". The photos and description on the website made it appear as though on the beach - however, it is a short walk away. After talking to locals, the view is that Casabarco is the best hostal in Punta Hermosa. The hostal and pool are clean and attractive. We opted for a small room with a large terrace which suited our needs. We had a lovely view from the terrace. We also found a great place to eat about a 10 minute walk away which we would recommend, "Don Angelo's". Downstairs are two computers where you can check e-mail for free (if kids are not playing computer games...) Now a few things to be aware of... the weekends are fully booked with lots of families using the pool and the noise level is somewhat elevated, weekdays are quiet; the artwork in the place is somewhat erotic and disturbing...not the most appropriate for kids... let's just say we wouldn't want to take our family there; breakfast is included but is only a roll, a glass of juice and instant coffee; we had dinner there one time only - overpriced and not very good (go to the restaurant mentioned above for great food!!); we only saw the owner once... the staff we observed working are teens but they did a good job; the taxi that was supposed to pick us up at the airport picked up someone else by mistake but it was quite easy to find a taxi to the hostal just make sure you bargain FIRST. The "inside" taxi drivers want $40. to take you to Punta Hermosa, the "outside" taxi drivers will do it for $25. We liked Punta Hermosa because it is a local Peruvian vacation spot not a lot of foreign "tourists" which we enjoyed. The bay directly in front of the hostal looked fairly clean but the bay to the north was terribly polluted with sewage pouring in and very smelly. Don't stay north of where the Casabarco is.

Room Tip: Não recomendo se hospedar neste local, mas caso optem por isso, recomendo os quartos com vista para o mar
