I was recommended Barranco's Backpackers Inn by the staff at Southern Comfort in Cusco and they did not disappoint us.
This hostel was exactly what we were looking for in Lima. My travel partner and I wanted a cool place close to the beach and this place was spot on. Plus the fact that they are close to some great night life!

Room Tip: Try and get the room with the ocean view

My husband and I, budget travellers over age 55 stayed at the Barranco Backpacker in Lima for 8 days. Peter, the business manager arranged a greeter and driver who waited an extra 45 minutes for us as we filled out lost luggage forms inside the airport and days later received our lost luggage for us. The staff were helpful and freindly. The room had comfortable beds, was clean, secure, with private bathroom, large windows and television. Peter, was helpful, knowledgable and speaks English. He explained the local buses (A Line & local street) which we rode to sights and arranged better and cheaper taxis than we could even though we speak spanish. We cooked a few meals and kept food/drinks in the fridge. Inexpensive overnight laundry service is available. There is free computer use as we travelled with no techonology this trip along with a well stocked travel reference library. For 2 nights, we moved to a noisy, windowless, expensive hotel in upscale Miraflores to connect with our tour group and missed the Barranco Backpacker!

Room Tip: Ask for a room with a private bathroom.

Our first stop in Lima. Rooms are quiet and clean.
You would prefer looking for a room in Miraflorès. The location is better and there is plenty of better offers (better rooms AND smaller prices).

We only stayed here for 1 night as we only spent 24 hours in Lima. We hadn't heard great things from other travelers but we actually really loved it and would have liked to have stayed longer if we'd had the time. Very glad we chose to stay at Barranco Backpacker's. We received excellent maps and tips upon arrival from Chris which helped a great deal with our short time scale in seeing as much as possible. We had a bunk bed in a dorm. The dorm was very clean, the bed was comfortable and the bathroom was also very clean. The lockers in the room will fit most backpacks in, but the place felt very safe and secure. We could also lock our packs in a storage room the next day. The breakfast included was good and overall the hostel was really excellent value for money.

I was a little unsure about how good the location would be before we arrived as it is far from the centre of Lima but it is a really beautiful perfect location. We had views out to sea from our room, and Barranco itself is a great fun, funky neighborhood in itself and felt very safe to go out in in the evening. There are some great bars and restaurants very close to the hostel(where we spent all our money that we saved on staying here!) We went a lovely walk along the coastline to Miraflores, the glitzy high class neighborhood and then inland to the centre. It was great to explore the different areas on foot, but the public transport was also easy enough and there is a bus stop right by the hostel.

We saw people of all ages staying here, it had a good atmosphere and is a great base for everybody.

In the best part of Lima / the bohemian artist neighborhood / you find this friendly relaxed little hostel owned by Chris; who´s lived in Lima for 10 years and knows all the inns and outs of not only the capital but the whole of Perú. The rest of the staff are also beautyful, very helpful and nice people. It´s quite economic to stay here (10/11/35$ dm/double) and you can cook at home;) I higly recomend it;D Thank you Chris and Family.

Room Tip: The upstairs dorm has a bit more air flowing through it if you like that. Downstairs dorm is just as...

Needed a place for me and my gf for 12 hours after Cusco trip prior to a very early morning flight next day. Wanted simple, clean, walking distance to all the fun in Barranco AND at a reasonable cost. BBackpackers delivered on all counts.

Even though my flight was delayed over an hour, the driver Chris sent was still there waiting. Solid service!

Unlike most people this is where I landed before returning home after a great time in Peru. It was a great place, clean, hot water, and really relaxed. The staff were amazing, helpful and very kind. It was affordable ($10-$11/night for a dorm) and Barranco was a beautiful area with lots of excellent restaurants, grocery store and bank machine if needed. The hostel also has a kitchen for use, internet and a patio area to sit and relax with other travelers. Everyone that met there was great.
