We only stayed one night in this hostel and arrived very late but it was a very good experience. They provided a small heater, we had warm water and the next morning the breakfast was awesome. Fruits, marmalade, eggs and a very good coffee. The view from the garden was really stunning and we wouldn't have left if it wasn't quite expensive for two backpackers (60 USD per room and night).

We stayed here for two nights in early July. The grounds and property are lovely, as is the room we had. I think that the price for this facility, whichincludes breakfast, was more than reasonable. I also loved seeing the dogs!

The first day we went to Centro, and the taxi driver, who this hotel must use frequently, gave us written instructions to give to our return driver, since it's out of the way. That was so helpful!

Definitely a great stay.

Second Home Peru is fabulous. Not only is it a seriously fantastic value but the atmosphere is interesting, the views are great, breakfast was fantastic (with delicious! bread from a local bakery, eggs and local fruit, jam and coffee). Lilian and her staff couldn't be nicer and the location is good. She really makes sure to accommodate her guests and help provide good suggestions for your time in Lima. The B&B is very close to Miraflores (inexpensive cab ride and even walk-able) and the Barranco District is also interesting. There are restaurants and a market within walking distance. We stayed in one of the Mirador rooms and it was awesome. I saw pictures on the internet but was not expecting such a large room that is reminiscent of a ship in design and architectural touches. It had huge windows with shades, and you can put up a hammock on one end to enjoy the ocean view. Also you can open the curtain and see the ocean from the freakin' shower! It was clean and the beds were comfortable and the sheets very soft. The view was amazing and having a balcony was truly awesome. My husband's parents stayed in the main house in a room with two double beds. And...it had it's own sun porch that extended the length of the room! Their bathroom was a fabulous mix of wood and stairs. It felt very luxurious and constantly smelled like flowers (really). We arranged a pick up from the airport through the hotel and it worked out great. Also, Lilian provided a guide for us and he was awesome. Very patient and up to taking us anywhere. Second Home Peru is like a haven from the city. Quiet and relaxing. They have small refrigerators where you can stock up on wine and water for a fee. Wine glasses are provided in the room. We had no idea that a very well known artist actually resided at the B&B and were in for quite a treat being able to view all his art and his studio.

Second Home Peru is definitely high on atmosphere and character. Virtually an art gallery, it is full of Peruvian artist, Victor Delfin's paintings and sculptures. It's located in Barranco, a bohemian neighbourhood of Lima, and sits on a cliff overlooking the Pacific ocean. The interesting architecture, art and general disposition of this bed and breakfast makes up for what it lacks in facilities, which are quite basic. It is also a bit musty and damp smelling. could be the proximity to the ocean. We had a superior ocean view room and it was great to wake up in the morning to the misty view. The bathroom had no door or even a curtain, so if you are particular about bathroom privacy, be cautioned that you wont find it here. Breakfast is homestyle and served in the kitchen, made fresh in front of you and to order. Unfortunately the kitchen is in the back of the house, depriving you of any of that fabulous view! I wish that the ground level salon and gallery was set up to be more usable as it is a great space with views!

Room Tip: Definitely opt for the ocean view rooms only.

Second Home Perú was more than a pleasant surprise for me, it was an experience of reconnection to Lima and the Pacific Ocean. The hotel looks like a ever renewing art gallery and its view to the sea is breathtaking. Second Home's people are caring and very friendly, they make you feel at home and you can spend hours walking on the hotel gardens. And the neighborhood is amazing, the bohemian Barranco district has many excellent places to eat and taste the delicious Peruvian gastronomy. It's not far from Miraflores district and you can go to Lima's historic downtown by bus quicky.

Second Home Peru was the best part of our stay in Lima. The setting is spectacular with one room literally handing over the Pacific. All the rooms were gorgeous and comfortable. We loved the decor of the mansion and especially enjoyed the Victor Delfin studio and artwork. We were sorry to ever leave our rooms. I could have stayed all week. The staff was so helpful and arranged for us to be picked up at the airport. Breakfast in the kitchen was so homey and great food was served. We felt like we lived there--or at least wished we did. Highly recommended.

Room Tip: The best room is downstairs on the cliff but all rooms were wonderful.

Thanks to Frommer, we landed on this wonderful bed and breakfast and we could not have been happier with our choice. Second Home Peru is a lovely historic tudor home full of Victor Delfin's art. The location is in the historic district of Barranco and steps away from the main square. In addition, I highly recommend strolling down the ocean front sidewalk to Mirafloras... just remember to put on sunscreen! We stayed in the No. 3 ocean view room and loved hearing the sound of the ocean rolling in and looking out over the house grounds. The bathroom is somewhat open to the room, so if you have any issues w/ privacy, you might consider another room or just send your loved out to the patio or common space for privacy. Furthermore, Lilian was extremely helpful and such a welcoming hostess. She prearranged our dinner reservations and taxi to/from the airport. We LOVED her restaurant recommendation, Amoramar. This was our first time to South America and I was somewhat apprehensive about Lima after reading other reviews, but we totally enjoyed ourselves. We probably should have brushed up on our spanish a bit more, but even w/ our rudimentary skills, we were able to communicate with the locals, all of whom were friendly/helpful. We also utilized Lima Mentor for a private tour of the colonial downtown and again we were extremely pleased (see my review under Lima Mentor for more info).
