The Sanctuary of Santa Rosa is a nice little peaceful spot tucked away from one of the busiest roads in Lima. Worth walking through for a visit (free) and impressive colonial-red church too.

Going into the underneath viewing all the people from previous years and the extraordinary library. The lady was very knowledgable. Giving the time to explain everything. Price of 10 Soles was well worth it.

Church of beautiful architecture. Vale visit and enjoy the architectural drawings, besides the beauty of his saints and sculptures linked to the Catholic religion.

Love the feel of this area. So much in a small spot. Keep your belongings tucked close to you as there are many who want your stuff. Lots of beggars in the area too, but the cathedral is beautiful and definitely something everyone visiting must see.

This is a beautiful cathedral right on the main square in Lima. The Spanish style is very evident from the outside by the intricately carved wood balcony. The outside is quite beautiful (I'll try and attach some pics I took). The inside is also quite beautiful as there are numerous chapels (little naves where people pray and light candles, etc) that are intricately designed and decorated. I enjoyed looking at them as much as any painting in the Louvre' (and this is coming from a non-Catholic WASP, yes, that statement is a bit redundant, just trying to make a point). The Choral Stalls were of beautifully carved wooden images of saints and/or apostles.

For any fans of historical music, there is a section on a upper floor with loads of choral music scores written in early music notation. It was neat to see this in books that are clearly 300+ years old (that is a guess of course, but modern music notation has been around and universally used since roughly the 16th century).

There is a crypt that can also be entered and some interesting factoids and freaky skulls in a glass case (but cool).

I think there was an entry fee of perhaps 10 Soles per person ($4 US), that's just a guess.
