Of course an historic site you can´t miss on your city tour. But unless you are Catholic and into Catholic history, it worth about 1/2 hour to say you saw it. I think i remember that it was pretty much destroyed by earthquake and not much original anyway.

Worth a look round, beautifully detailed with impressive altars. Didn't spend a lot of time here, but was still a great visit

History, history, history! We were in so many different places during our stay but my husband wanted to visit this cathedral. Lovely!

Not open to the public everyday unless you are on a tour so be watchful. The visit is well worth the effort, from the magnificent cupolas to the main alter to the crypt. The history of Lima is also revealed from the founder Francisco Pizarro, through the earthquakes to modern day, well somewhat modern.

A some what simple cathedral for a big city. Possibly because of the fear that an earthquake would destroy it as other sites in the past. Has a nice alter and anti rooms off the sides of the main sanctuary.
