We stayed in Lima at The Maury Hotel for 6 days. We booked a room with A/C. When we arrived at midnight, we were given a room with a burned out air conditioning unit, and a toilet that kept running. We were told at the desk that there were no rooms with A/C. After 2 days, the temperature outside was over 80 degrees. We asked again for a room with A/C. The desk girl seemed very irritated with the request. We were moved 2 rooms away. The A/C worked, but the hair dryer was not working, and we had 2 days without hot water. We had to wait hours for a roll of toilet paper one day. The doorman, kitchen staff and housekeepers were nice enough. The girls at the desk seemd apathetic.

We had one night in Lima before heading to Cusco and chose the Maury because we wanted to stay in central Lima to visit the catecombs of the San Francisco church before catching our flight.

The hotel was pleasant enough. There was some noise from the streets, but that made it seem all the more real -- many of the streets around the hotel were still filled with shoppers or strollers later into the evening. The breakfast was a bit disappointing. But while we were leaving, the hotel insisted that we had used one of the water bottles for sale in the room -- we had actually bought two bottles when we walked around the neighborhood and had forgotten to take one of them -- it did not seem worth arguing (or trying to explain the matter) while we were getting into a cab to the airport, but it was still annoying to be charged for a water that we did not use and have the hotel gain a bottle to boot.

This is a very average 3 star hotel. You get all the basic stuff. No AC, just a ceiling fan. You can hear a bit of noise outside the door if people walk a bit loud or talk since sound insulation isn't great, which i think is like most other 3 stars in Peru. It might only be a problem for light sleepers.
