Faraona Grand Hotel
Ranked #30 of 236 Hotels in Lima
Certificate of Excellence
Reviewed December 26, 2012

I stayed in this hotel last Nov. if the prices that they charge would be lower my rating would be average. I had the opportunity to stayed in different rooms and the only ones that look spacious are the doubles; the ones with 1 queen beds are too small.
The amenities in the rooms are very limited or simple with no professional designer touches (the doors stilled using metal keys). The only thing that I liked was a good size small refrigerator with enough room for your own products. The bathrooms are clean some with new sinks but no modern or functional space or lights. Beds are very comfortable with clean sheets and good pillows.
The breakfast that is included isn't great, limited and terrible coffee, no food and beverage professional knowledge for the choices and poor setting.
Location is the only good part for this hotel without the up today standards. Lima is becoming very touristy and booming with hotels and business; getting expensive that is why the high prices rate of this hotel; but no way this hotel is worth more than 75 or 80 dollars a night.
Finally I can't believe travelers are giving excellent rate or compare it to a hostel backpackers; its neither.

We will never ever come back to this hotel, nor will we advise you to go there.

Firstly, the place is heavily overpriced. We payed about 70€ per night. The room we got for that amount of money would be worth a meager 30€ in Europe. So for peruvian standards, it is extremely overpriced.
The room was spartan to say the least, without any form of a view: we looked out into somebody's home through a broken roof down below, gazing at his laundry drying. We were also above the kitchen, meaning our room would most of the time either smell of breakfast, or of garlic. The bathroom, lit with extremely bright TL light, was mouldy and ill kept. Room was noisy, but this should be expected with the peruvian noisy traffic. The elevator was next to our room, increasing the noiselevels. cleaning staff start very early, waking you up.
To top it all of, the hotel tries to make a profit by setting their own exchange course from us dollars to nuevo soles. This means that their 100 dollar that they charge you in soles, is not the same as the 100 dollar that you get from a cashmachine in soles. When asked, they just remain silent and repeat that this is their exchange rate, even wen presented with the official exchange rate ( Peruvian Central Bank). Furthermore, after this hassle we asked them to call us a taxi to our bus, which would cost maximum of 10 soles, and they asked for 25 soles.  Needless to say we hailed our own taxi.

The hotel is a proper shambles and a rip off. Service therefore is far below standard and accomodation is of a backpacker-hostel standard.

During my almost three weeks in Peru I stayed in this hotel three times, and it is a very nice place to stay. The service is excellent, the rooms are clean and the breakfast is above average. Everything that is worth seeing in the Miraflores area is just a short walk away.

hotel comfortable and good service, great bars and quality restaurants around, close to main square, department stores, markets , fine churches, and a short walk to the impressive bus rapid transit to Central Lima. Lively and safe area, my rooms (2 stays) didnt suffer any undue noise.

I almost always stay at this hotel when in Lima. They are so nice and accommodating. Lots of the staff speak English. The location is perfect as you can walk to Larco Mar and shop, eat, see the ocean. Stroll down to lover's park. The best Indian Market in town is just a few blocks away. There is everything you could ever need within 15 minutes walking. For the price, it is the best value around.

A very pleaseant stay, and fast Wifi.
Good morning buffet.
Close to some Nice cultural markets, in a Nice and secure area (Mira Flores).

My group of 12 people experienced no problems at all.

Cleaning of the rooms was always fast, and thats not always the case in Peru ;-)
