We have been to Lima 5 times and have stayed in 3 different hotels. Our favorite was always the Miraflores Park Hotel, but it is being renovated. We also have stayed at the Marriott, but it is a very busy hotel with a lot of tourist activity. This time we chose the Hilton as it is a new hotel so we knew it would be clean and well kept. We were not disappointed. We chose and executive room with a balcony. The room was on the smaller side, but was beautiful and the balcony was quite large with a great view of the city on the 11th floor. The 12th floor has an executive level for free breakfast (for executive level only). There is also a very nice gym on that floor along with a fabulous infinity pool and two hot tubs. We had our nieces and nephews over for an afternoon swim, as they live in Lima, and they loved it so much, we repeated it the next day. At the pool there is waitress services so you can order a lunch and drink as well.
Room A/C worked very well, there is a fully stocked mini-bar and coffee machine, however we always ordered a pot in the morning via room service which was quick and courteous. The bathroom was very large with a European shower and a powerful rain-type showerhead, lot of hot water.
The staff all spoke English and were very friendly and provided exceptional service. They have a nice bar and restaurant as well. The hotel is about 5-6 blocks from Larcomar, that is a touristic shopping and dining area, an easy walk, but we chose to take a taxi instead. I liked the fact that the hotel had very nice taxis that are "approved" by the hotel. They can even bill to your room. We opted for their service since they are more professional (dressed in suits) and clean and new cars unlike the often horrible taxi cabs that are all over Lima. You will pay twice as much for the hotel taxi, but it is still 1/2 of what you would pay in the States and I would never rent a car and drive in Lima, taxi only!
This hotel is in a very safe area and you will feel comfortable and safe, they always have 1-2 security guards out front also.
Two other things to consider, in most places and hotels in Peru you can not drink the water and you can also not flush your toilet paper, you put it in a bucket next to the toilet due to plumbing limitations. Being an American, that is unacceptable to me but at this hotel and a few other upscale hotels like the Marriott and Miraflores Park, that is not an issue. The water is also filtered so you can drink it, or at least not worry about brushing your teeth or taking a shower if you choose bottled water instead.
Again, a superior hotel and we will stay there again, if you are used to a nice American style hotel, you will love this place, we are pretty picky and if my wife likes it, it is a place we will return to and she loved this place and you will too.
