“Pretty good but could be better.”
Reviewed November 12, 2013

El Patio has a lot going for it but it lets itself down in certain areas, but yes, I would go back again.

My room, near the top of the complex, was very nice indeed and very clean. But it was noisy, not helped by currently being next to a building site which sprung into life rather early in the morning. This aside (not their fault obviously!) there is a lot of road noise. Some sort of better soundproofing is much needed, and windows that actually close without needed some sort of improvised wedge would help! The curtains were thin whilst the windows with blinds kept out even less light. I suspect the rooms lower down will have been better in these regards.

Breakfast was variable to poor. Fruit and bread alongside tea and 1 glass of a fruit juice of their choice. There was nothing to put on the bread on my first day other than butter and a local spread made from olives, fine if you like olives but not so good if you don't! Cheese did appear on the second day, but no jams or meats were available.

The location is excellent for Miraflores and much of the rest of Lima that tourists will visit.

The WiFi was very hit and miss, much of the time it was unavailable in my room, but seemed better lower down. In short there are a large number of a WiFi networks from surrounding properties which are all on the same or nearby channels, with inevitable consequences for performance. I didn't appear to be the only person struggling with it.

The key staff all seemed to speak excellent English and were very helpful. They will organise a reputable taxi to get you to the airport rather than running the gauntlet of a random taxi and driver from the street.

This hostel is located near most attractions in Miraflores.
The rooms are simple, but clean and with a good space for your luggage. Some rooms are a little noisy because of the work in the street.
The breakfast is simple, with a fruit.
The wifi is slow and doesn't work at room 15.
Pay attention: the % of room rate discount for paying cash is not exact. The hotel round it to the next integer. So, if you stay a couple of days, you will pay some soles more than you planned.

Room Tip: Avoid the room 15: noisy and without wifi.

I stayed for two nights earlier this week.
Great location in Miraflores area so you can walk to some great restaurants, the beach and a few attractions.
They were very efficient at the reservation process, and helpful in arranging transportation (Lima has some poverty/theft issues which they provided written instructions about how to avoid in the e-mail confirmation. As well, they offered airport pick-up and drop-off service at $50 Sol, which was very reasonable and easy.)
The rate was very reasonable $126 sol with a 6% discount for cash.
The room was very clean.
No elevators so if you're lugging lots of luggage and are placed on the 4th floor, that could be an issue. If you travel light, it's not a problem.
The first night, my shower died right after I was lathered up. I let them know in the morning, and they were very prompt at fixing it, so it was good for my second night.
The price includes Wifi. I couldn't get it to work in my room, but had success in the lounge area on the 2nd floor.
Light breakfast was included - it was coffee, tea, juice, white buns, cheese and spreads. Good enough to start the day.

Room Tip: Try to get onto the 2nd floor. You'll be away from the main floor comings/goings/breakfast, woul...

This was our first taste of hospitality Peruvian style - And what a great start to our six week trip.
We arrived jet lagged and travel weary after a 28 hour journey at 0700 having been picked up promptly as arranged at the airport by Luis one of the hotels regular taxi drivers who did a great job of ferrying us around for the length of our stay. Staff were super helpful and had a room ready for us by about 1030 ( having promised by 1300). All oatio areas /courtyards are really pretty with lots of plants, flowers and a couple of Sweet singing birds in the courtyard. Right next door is a local shop - great for a couple of cold beers and a sandwich / Pastie after a day out. On the other side is a laundry and right opposite is the "Tejas" restaurant serving great traditional Peruvian food. The busy Miraflores area of Kennedy park with more bars, restaurants, shops banks etc is a mere five minutes walk away. WiFi worked well in all areas. Breakfast was perfectly adequate especially the home made jams. The location has a really safe feel to it and i would not hesitate to recommend this hostal unreservedly

Room Tip: The slightly more expensive rooms with "Kitchenette" are worth the few extra soles per nig...

We were scheduled to stay here for three nights but checked out after one night. Guys working on the roof with what sounded like a jackhammer starting at 7am and lasting through the day. The rooms were quite adequate and the grounds are lovely, however we were basically paying for a place to get a good nights sleep, which we didn't receive.

Room Tip: Get a room away from the street and away from the breakfast area (exclude #2 & #8).

Hostal El Patio is well located within Miraflores. The room we stayed in with 2 double beds is not very big but it is clean and functional.
The hostal itself is very cute with nice and original decoration.
Breakfast, also included with the room, was very good.
Staff was helpful and location is ideal.
Very good value for money.

The hotel is in a great location in Miraflores within easy walking distance of the main drag. Very safe, good price and clean rooms. Hotel is has beautiful inner courtyard and patios for relaxing. Free internet. Service was outstanding. Staff was very helpful, courteous, and went to the extra mile to call our travel agency (and translate our questions for us) when we had questions about when we would be picked up in the morning.

Room Tip: Ask for the room with the kitchenette. It has a kettle to boil water.
