“Superb budget hotel”
Reviewed September 8, 2013

I was wary at first having read the reviews but this was one of the best budget hotels I stayed at in Peru. Flat screen tv with plenty of English channels, modern decor, hot water. The staff were efficient too.

I was in Lima for about 25 days & this was the first hotel I arrived in from the airport. Location of the hotel is in the city centre & as per talks with my colleagues in Lima it is not the right place specially for foreigners as it is very risky with your valuables outside. So if you stay here better dont carry your valueables outside with you. Just behind (1 block) from the hotel is a street where you can do all types of shopping with several restaurants, old monuments, cathedral, recharge your mobile & more.

Hotel room was cozy & cold (in July end when I arrived). No Air-conditioning, only a wall fan though due to cold weather did not need the AC or the fan. Instead needed a heater if would have been available but without it just slip inside the bed & cover yourself & go to sleep. Wifi was average. Breakfast was very very limited. Bread (not really bread but bun) n butter/jam, tea/coffee/juice, egg, fruits. Atleast they should serve sliced bread.

Room Tip: Almost all rooms I guess would be the same but they have lobby in the rooms. So if option available...

There are clearly mixed opinions about this place. We have a really bad experiences while we heard from other travellers their room was fine. We had a dark room without any window. Painted in brown and gray depressing colors. Certainly not a good idea to stay in the room. It was almost like a bunker. The bathroom was clean and modern and the room had a lcd tv which is good.

But at night there was for 2 nights really load banging noises which wake you up. In the morning the cleaning team play music and make a lot of noise as well.

We stopped in this hotel a few times while on a tucan tour. First room was basic, blood on the duvet cover and shabby decor. Second room a bit better - nice large queen bed in 605.

Generally clean but very hostel like. Wifi available. Not in good part of town.

Located in Lima this hotel caters to the backpacker crowd. Basic but clean and comfortable. Not the best location, don't flash your valuables/camera. Breakfast is 3 types of bread and juice and coffee

Sent to this hotel through our Tucan tour. The first 2 nights we stayed in a dark and dingy room with 2 ancient fans and the view of brick walls. Wasn't so pleasant. Then our tour ended we stayed back in for another 2 nights and we were put in another room with awful camp beds. One fan that was so dusty and dirty. then just before bed i saw a small bug which looked to be a cockroach.!! Yuk! Couldn't catch the thing so slept in fear. I would say the only good thing is the location , wifi and friendly staff (they helped me recover my missing luggage from the airline) Other than that not so good. I was advise not to stay here unless you have to and its a 1 night stay. Oh also WARNING do not get your laundry done here. We had no price list and they charge per item. When we went down to pay they tried to charge us 120 soles!! Which is around £35. Outrageous!!

Overall I would not recommend!

The best thing about this hotel is that it is close to all the main attractions. The main shopping mall is one street over, the post office on the same road and there is a great eatery attached to the restaurant called Mr Koala (saving grace of our stay get the Lemon Grande so good). WIFI connection is great !

The hotel doesn't have much else going for it. Our room was small and the lifts and rooms smell like damp floors. No air con and the windows have no fly mesh.. so you either deal with mosquitoes or no air movement at all. Even when it cooled outside the rooms did not cool down. We did have one small wall mounted fan to push the hot damp air around. Beds are hard.

Whilst we were here there was a bit of construction going on too on the floor above us, and our bathroom channeled the work mens radio from the top floor (we had a hole in the wall where i am guessing a air vent may have been). Made for interesting showers,

Another good point is that everyone has been lovely... but i still would not bother. We stayed as the starting point to a tour but i would have not stay here if given the choice.

Room Tip: Take the front rooms in summer as there is plenty of air flow !
