While in Miraflores, it is well worth an hour to see the ruins of a pre-Inca religious temple and surrounding buildings and "pyramid" They are still digging it up. The entry fee is 12 soles and you get a free tour in English or Spanish (I gave the guide an extra 5 soles tip). It doesn't compare to Ollantaytamba or Machu Picchu Inca ruins but is fairly interesting and much much cheaper than going to Machu Picchu. It is near the Alliance Francais and has a fairly expensive restaurant - about 40 soles ($13) for a main plate - I didn't eat there but it would be a pleasant place to have a meal. It can be hot - take hat and sunscreen.
They have some typical food plants with the names listed and a few animals (llamas, guinea pigs, alpacas) to see. They also have some statues of people making the mud bricks.
