I came for a two week trip to Peru, started in Lima and ended in Lima. I stayed in the Hilton Miraflores to start with, and then stayed in a rental apartment in the same neighbourhood after I visited other parts of Peru. I love this neighbourhood, you are never too far from anything, plenty of restaurants, cafes, supermarkets, even casinos!! I found that it is really easy to get around from here, there are more taxi you could take really, never short of them. One thing to note is that in Lima, the taxi has no meters, you need to negotiate with the taxi driver how much you are going to pay to go to your destinations before you jump into it. The way to identify if that is an official taxi is to see if they have a number printed on the side of their taxi. Always bargain. I always ended up paying about 75% of what they asked for. Or else I would ask the door man in advance how much I should pay and use that as a bench mark. Ask a waiter, or any local person to sucks out what a reasonable fare is was my trick.
