My last day in Peru after a two-week tour, I had a few hours to kill and my guide recommended this museum. It contains a truly excellent collection of mostly pre-Incan artifacts, and although the provenance of this private collection leaves some questions, the quality of the work is impressive and admirably displayed. Labels are in five languages, well-written and comprehensive. For an extra $1.50, you can get a one-hour guided tour which is well-worth it. Mine was led by Jose Guillen, a young, knowledgeable and welcoming archeologist. The museum itself is well laid out and beautifully landscaped. A gem in Lima.
