If you have a short trip, this one is great. Catacombs are spooky but sobering. Although kids usually think they are very cool. No pictures allowed, so just practice the descriptive. All tours are guided, small fee. well worth it. Beautiful architecture although after a while in Peru you realize it came at a great cultural price. Amazing history. Whish the tour had been longer/ slower to tak it all in. Loved the library in particular

We went here with our tour group expecting to see another church but this was much more. It is rather large and very pretty inside. The best part however is the interior garden and the catacombs. Definitely not the usual sort of catacomb, it is worth seeing for yourself!

We loved this place. Historic building, cheap entry and then ...WOW what an interesting underground network of rooms with some rather macabre exhibits. We tagged on to the end of a guided tour and learned a lot. Speaking to other travellers later in other parts of Peru they also remembered this as their top Lima site. Don't miss it and don't miss going into the catacombs (could be quite easy to miss the entrance).

The church was pretty & the catacombs interesting (but not as impressives as the walls of the ones in Rome). But the best part was the painting of the Last Supper. Be sure you get someone to point out the differences in this & the one everyone's familar with. The things I can remember are round table, women & children there, guinea pig being served, devil behind the shoulder of Judas. The only disappoint was you can't take pictures inside & there are no postcards with inside shots either.

This is really interesting! With a English guide we went into the cloister, saw beautiful walls and a really nice, original library from the 17th century. After this we went downstairs for the catacombs. Wow! About 25,000 people have been burried here, and you can see a lot of bones. If you are in Lima, visit this church! (didn't tell, but the outside is also very beautiful!)
