“Great spot close to business district”
Reviewed September 8, 2012

This hotel is small enough that the staff recognize you soon as a guest band treat you with desire to serve. It is close to the San Isidro business district and makes coming and going to nearby offices very easy.

Quiet little bar to finish any after hours business in a relaxed environment.

Stayed August 2012, traveled on business

It ismlocated in front of one of the most iconic place in Lima, The Olivar, means The Olive Place, it is a quad plenty of old Olive trees. From here you can go to have lucn or diner to Tanta restaurant or running around the residential - offices area. Nice place to stay, nothing fancy, but quiet and relax.

Room Tip: Ask room that have view to the Olive park or quad

Our family stayed here for three nights and we were very pleased with the experience. An excellent breakfast and wifi were included. The staff were extremely polite and helpful; they even helped us book tickets for our next destination. The business centre with computers and a printer were also good to have. It was quite cold when we visited (Peruvian winter) but my daughter still wanted to swim in the indoor pool, which was well-maintained. The patio would be really pleasant in summer. We also appreciated the complimentary drink on arrival. It's only 25 minutes from the airport and 10 minutes to Miraflores by taxi. Getting to the Plaza de Armas took about 25 minutes by taxi as traffic was heavy. Ask the staff to order you a cheaper but safe taxi rather than taking the fancy black expensive taxis out front. Overall a wonderful introduction to Peru.

I'm a frequent visitor to Lima, and I've stayed at the Sonesta Hotel El Olivar three times. The first time I was unimpressed; the second I was underwhelmed. But the third time (which, coincidentally, was the longest of the three stays) I thoroughly enjoyed myself. My room had recently been renovated, which helped, but I was also impressed by the hotel staff, by the quality of the breakfast, and by the pisco sours that were liberally consumed during my visit. The hotel's pool is small, but the view is STUNNING; it also offers a full-service menu, and if the weather's nice it's a tough place to beat.

The hotel's also adjacent to an olive grove, which doubles as a great running path (one side to the other = almost exactly 1km). It's also reasonably safe, and you'll find people strolling the olive grove from dawn-to-dusk. It's a nice little perk of staying at a hotel that's grown on me considerably.

Room Tip: See if you can get a room overlooking the olive grove!

I stayed at this hotel for work and i have to say it was comfortable, clean, had a decent gym, and decent breakfast buffet. One plus is the free wi-fi. One minus: There was no coffee maker in the room, which I missed. The only real negative is the "spa" which i can hardly call a salon. They were not professional nor transparent about their prices. When I went to make the appointment, I was told certain prices for certain services. When it was time to settle my bill, I was told a separate set of prices. I should have settled up the price when I sat in the chair, granted, but why should one have to double-check? Lesson learned for me to reconsider places like this, and also reconfirm the price before they start. Nevertheless, the stylist and manager could have handled the situation differently. For anyone needing a blowout and manicure, take a taxi to a real place. :)

Room Tip: Ask for a room on the 5th or 6th floors with a view of the olive tree park.

Dear Guest;

We would like to thank you for the time you spent sharing your appreciation about our service and facilities with Tripadvisor visitors. Your comments help us to keep working in order to provide an excellent service to our guests. We are really sorry for the inconveniences you had with the Beauty Salon; as soon as you talked with us at the Front desk, we talked with the owner and clarify the situation, as you mentioned to us You did not were notified that there were using some other products on you and they did not explain you correctly in order to avoid you unease. That is why they just charged to you the amount they said when you consulted them initially; giving you back the change. Be sure that they are doing some changes in order to improove their procedures and try to avoid any other inconvenience like yours with our guests. Once more, thank you indeed for your preference and we hope you can visit us again in your next trip to Peru.

There are mainly 2 districts in Lima where a first time visitor may consider staying: Miraflores and San Isidro. This hotel is located in the heart of San Isidro, one of the upscale districts where you will find many embassies, the golf club and some of the best hotels of the city.

Although the hotel is not very modern, it is very well maintained and rooms have been renovated. When I stayed here, I had the impression that it is business oriented, so I wouldn't recommend it as a first choice for families.

I was assigned a spacious room, with a very comfortable bed and a great view of the park. Breakfast was varied and staff was very courteous.

The hotel is within walking distance to many restaurants and 2 busy streets full of stores (Consquistadores and Libertadores). The area is very safe but just as in any other big city, use your common sense when going out at night.

Room Tip: Request a room overlooking the park to enjoy a great view.
