“Great hotel, central location with panoramic views”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 4, 2012

I stayed here with a friend for 2 nights before joining a Peru tour group and we were really impressed.

Our room was on the 18th floor with great views. Super comfy bed, air con, fridge etc. Staff were really friendly and helpful. The city is noisy but that's what you get for being central. They give you a voucher for a free welcome drink which is nice.

The top floor bar/restaurant is awesome - you can eat your breakfast overlooking the city. Breakfast is buffet-style with hot sausage/eggs/pancakes, fruit, yogurt, cereal, juices and continental breads, meats and cheeses.

Step outside and you're in the heart of Miraflores surrounded by shops, restaurants, bars and casinos. We felt really safe here and it was easy to get around.

I stayed at the MiraFlores in March for a business trip.
The hotel in itself claims to be a 5 star, which maybe according to local standards it is. The rooms were lovely and huge, with very comfortable beds and working air conditioning.
A partitioned area was made by placing the TV in between to make a small dining/seating area.
Unfortunately the bathroom was quite small with "nothing special" toiletries, the room lacked a mini-bar and the one bugbear for me was that the hotel gym was being refurbished meaning that you had no gym on site. To be kind, the hotel did state that you could use the gym at their sister hotel (but when in a foreign country not something you are keen on doing).
Also since Peru is a busy city, no matter what time you were in your room you could hear the cars outside and their horns blaring.
The staff in the hotel were extremely friendly and the reception area was nice but again parts were undergoing renovation.

The neighborhood where the hotel is located is great. you can walk to great restaurants, it is the safest area in Lima. The hotel is a bit old but it is nice. They gave us a welcome cocktail when we arrived, which was nice. I didn't like the room they gave us. It had two connecting doors, and you could hear noise from the adjacent rooms. I didn't like the bed, it was a full size bed, not a queen size, and it was too small for a couple. It was too soft and my back hurt a lot the next day. Then we asked to be moved to a different room, and the new room was a lot better (a twin with two full size beds), though the beds were still too soft.

Go to the restaurant Punto Azul and order ceviche. It's within walking distance. If you want to spend more, go to the world famous gourmet restaurant Astrid & Gaston, also within walking distance (40-60 usd each).

The Estelar Miraflores is a nice hotel located in the heart of Miraflores. It is walking distance to a great number of restaurants, bars, shopping centers and the ocean. It is safe and full of life, the surroundings. There's a supermarket a block away and a small restaurant right in front of the Casino Fiesta. Try the ceviche there is fantastic and inexpensive. The rooms are large and even though I read complaints about the noise I didn't hear a thing so no noise. (I stayed on the 17th floor) The view was fantastic but unfortunately Lima was overcast almost every day. Ate one day at the hotel restaurant and it was very good and had buffet breakfast every morning, it was good but what I enjoyed the most was the fact that the restaurant is on the 21st floor so the view was great. To my regret the hotel was undergoing renovations on the pool and gym so can't review those. Good hotel will go back.

We had a room on the 17th floor with a nice view Miraflores. The Malecon and the beach are a short walk distance. The hotel has garage with valet parking. The main restaurant is on floor 21 with windows overlooking at the city. The view is great in a clear day. The food was excellent. The hotel has a small gym but they offer to visit another gym in a hotel a block away with more options. Ask for the opening hours, because on weekends they open later. However going for a run or a walk is nice and safe. The brunch was fantastic!. The only downside is the noise. In Lima and other towns in Peru the noise level on the streets is very high. People blow their car horns non stop even during the night. This hotel is on a corner between two busy streets. One can hear the cars almost all night.

Room Tip: Try to get a room on the higher floors, it will be quieter.

Spent 2 nights at this hotel located in mid Miraflores after 2 weeks of traveling through Peru...in others here to rest before I go home. This was a great hotel to o just that. 12th floor, quiet, ls of hot water, good pressure and the most comfortable bed I slept in in the sat 2 weeks. The view was great...big, massive windows across the entire room but importantly with blackout curtains. 6 pillows...I love pillows! And a fluffy comforter...I very good sleep at night and through the afternoon. Location also great, walking distance to kennedy park, the inca market and laromar mall. Restaurants, supermarkets and fast foods (should you want it) are all within 5 min walk. Hotel was also very accommodating when I asked for a fridge making use of the supermarket.
The 21th fl restaurant is ok. Food and view was good, the ambience took me back to the 80s but that didn't matter. Piano- man kept me company as I had dinner. A great 4 star hotel in miraflores. I would definitely stay here again.

We stayed 3 nights at this hotel and were overall satisfied. The Estrella Miraflores is a good city hotel that covers the need of any tourist on a short stay in Lima. Of course, my impressions are based on what I experienced as members of a travel-group, so I do not know how an individual tourist would feel.
Excellent location: the hotel is in a relatively posh neighborhood, so it’s safe to go out at night. Near the Kennedy square, where you can find bars, restaurants, fast food joints and cafés. Also close to the seaside and a large mall (on the way to the mall, make sure to check out the restaurant Mezze – excellent food at excellent prices). Next to the hotel is also a 24-h supermarket. Different buses stop right in front of the hotel, no idea though what their routes are.
Rooms: rooms are clean and sufficiently large, with closet space and a safe for your valuables. No fridge and no slippers provided. There are complimentary toiletries, and while you get a mouthwash, you get no shower gel! The beds are a dream to look at, but the mattresses are a bit too soft! Rooms toward the main road are noisy – no sound-proofed windows.
Staff: very polite and attentive. Unfortunately, when we forgot something in the room and phoned shortly later, to ask the staff to keep this item until we returned for our last night in Peru, we were informed that the item had not been found. Luckily, the item was only a cell phone case and thus of low value – so I assume the cleaning staff just threw the item away. The door men are particularly polite and always greeted us with a smile.
Meals: Breakfast is fine, but not inspired. We were impressed that the hotel served a basic breakfast even when we got up at 4 am. Dinner is again less impressive, at least when you are served as a group (continental dishes, not all that tasty). Pity, given the fabulous cuisine of Peru. Beautiful view from the restaurant on the ocean.
Smoking: Not allowed anywhere in the hotel (no smoking rooms).
Nice touch: 2 complimentary water bottles daily, the welcome drink (we tried Pisco Sour and it was good) & the free wifi in rooms & lobby.
Wake-up calls: reliable.
Overall: we’d stay again, particularly because of location
