My husband and I went to try out this restaurant and to compare it with the only Indian restaurant we knew here. We ordered the exact same things we normally order at Guru Peru (by far, way better than Mantra): vegetarian samosas, garlic naan, chana masala and chicken tikka masala. The samosas were good, the problem was the sauce. The naan was extremely garlicky, to the point that we had to remove the garlic and we both are garlic lovers. The chana masala was salty, undercooked and not saucy. It was just terrible to the point that I could not even finish it. The chicken tikka masala was so so. We were pretty dissapointed. The result is that we'll never go back and we'll stick to Guru. Where Mantra wins is that is a nicer looking restaurant than Guru. Guru is a small place resembling most Indian restaurants in North America but they do delivery.

Usually Indian restaurants abroad are not that great. In order to appeal to local palate, the true Indian flavor is lost. Mantra restaurant's food is exceptional in the sense that it stays true to Indian flavor and spices. Tastes excellent, good ambiance, courteous staff. When we were leaving, the waiter came & asked whether we need help to get a taxi. Overall it is value for the money and a very good experience.

The food was very good and reasonably priced for an indian restaurant in South America. We paid about S90 for two curries, a rice, a naan and two soft drinks.
The rice and naan portions were ok for 2 but we probably should have got a second naan or a second rice in hindsight.
The curries were very tasty, but not that hot. I had the vindaloo as I like my curries hot. It wasn't (my partner who likes tikka masala could enjoy it), but it was still very tasty and I enjoyed it a lot.
The staff were friendly, professional and efficient. The decor was nice.
This is the third indian restaurant we've been to in South America and it was definitely the best so far. We've learnt curries aren't that hot in SA,but flavour-wise this was excellent.

We were in Peru for more than 11 days and were desperate to get our hands on good Indian food. Peru doesn't have many Indian restaurants. But the food at Mantra was so delicious, even better than any other Indian cuisine restaurants in USA. We eat to our heart's content. The owner was a really nice guy. The décor was really nice. Will recommend this restaurants to anyone visiting Lima. The Daal Tarka was so spicy and yummy and Naans were so hot and freshly made. Just amazing, mouth watering food.
