“Best Hotel in Lima”
Reviewed December 5, 2013

Nice and modern building, well decorated, good restaurants, good service, friendly staff. Rooms are large enough, modern and clean. Well located at San Isidro region, not far from the pleasant Miraflores district.

Pleasantly surprised - the service was excellent from all corners of the hotel. Really aimed to please. The physical hotel was new looking, well kept, and well designed. Their gourmet Resturant was excellent. And they stocked proper gin in their bars.

Note that this review covers a hotel we stayed in for about 5 hours total. We arrived in Lima just before midnight, and by the time we got through customs and to our hotel, it was pushing 1a.

The hotel is beautiful. The grounds are well-kept. The lobby was fantastic. It is very modern and features all of the amenities you would expect from a high-end hotel. The check-in process was smooth enough, but be somewhat careful: if you are expecting that you are arriving late and it will be an easy check-in, that is not always the case. It seemed like 3 planes all arrived at the same time, so when we hit the hotel, so too had a handful of others, which extended the checkin process to about a half hour of waiting. This is not the fault of the hotel, but when planning your own travel, just account for the trip through customs and then the checkin if you are using this as your first night stay. It might impact when you get started the next day.

The rooms are fantastic. They are modern, well furnished, and quite comfortable. The bed was great. The shower are was well done. Everything was clean. The rooms have a nice view I imagine (it was night, so we didn't see it).

The hotel helped us arrange for our transfer back to the hotel the next day. They were friendly in providing a wakeup call. The service was all quite good.

The biggest knock on this hotel is that it is pretty far from the hotel. Even after midnight and with a driver who appears to have been a stunt driver in one of the Fast and the Furious movies, it took us over 35 minutes to get from airport to hotel. We ran through a similar gauntlet the next morning when we had to be at the airport by 5:45a. There are likely closer alternatives if you are looking for a transit hotel. If you are going to use this as base camp, the hotel is beautiful, and the amenities will serve you better.

Room Tip: Higher rooms will be quieter and provide better views

Thank you for your positive words. I will discuss the drivers performance with his superiors as they are an outside service provider for the hotel. All the best and happy holidays.

We are loyal Starwood fans and Gold members. Stay here for 2 nights as tourists. Pros: Lobby is modern and spacious. Rooms are huge and well appointed. Staff were all very helpful. Cons: Located in business district, cater to business people, felt seriously underdressed in tourist outfit. Hotel not walking distance to anything (shops or sights). Neighborhood just ok. Summary: great for work but recommend staying in Miraflores as tourists.

Thank you for the positve review after experiencing the hotel. We enjoy a centralized location to all of Lima which many guests take advantage of. Did you try our complimentary shuttle service to Miraflores while here? Best regards. Paul

The Westin Lima provides excellent facilities for holding a convention. The plumbing, electrical and air conditioning in the rooms works flawlessly. The service is attentive. Public spaces such as the bars and the lounge are comfortable and well attended. The food is excellent. the hotel provides tight security, particularly in the evening. And it is expensive.

Room Tip: A corner room with glass on two sides provides an excellent vista of the city.

Westin Lima is a relatively new ( less than two years ) well designed and well maintained hotel; at a great location for business not so much for tourism.
The hotel offers all the benefits and amenities of its category but miss on a few details which could easily be improved :
- the hotel maintains the outdated practice of charging an additional fee for wifi connection in your room ; in today world this is as logical , as if they would charge you for the TV set .
- the hotel insists on charging you additionally if you order an expresso with your all inclusive breakfast .
- the organization at the front desk is not very efficient , people have to queue .
Globally I had a nice stay , I would return for business and would recommend it to other people .
I would not like to be there , among busy streets and highways , for holidays .

Room Tip: The higher the better for the view and to be above Lima fog , mist or smog.

This is a really great hotel and the room is really nice. We were so glad to be staying at this hotel after a long travel in Peru & Bolivia. After staying here for two days, we were really turned off by the snobbish attitude of this hotel. The most annoying is the car service/taxi situation. We knew taxi in Lima is not regulated but all the other hotels we stayed at would help us called a trusted taxi but not for this hotel. The stay included 10% of service charge but the hotel told us if you don't take our car service, you have to call your taxi on your own. I had travelled to many places, stayed in very luxury hotel in the developing/undeveloped countries, places outside of the hotel is like whole different world once you step out of the hotel, but I had never encountered such lack of service or policy of a hotel like this one. I hope the management would consider offering service to base on customer wish. It is not that we cannot afford the car service at the hotel but we just do not want to spend on the 'stuffy' hotel car service.

Thank you for your comments. I sincerely aplogize for the indifference service you received from the staff. We are quite wary to fetch taxis off the street due to security issues as a few guests have experienced unfortunate incidents. I am sure you agree that your safety is of the upmost importantce to us and we probably failed to communicate that to you while you were here. All the best and happy holidays. Paul
