This is an experience...I will not say is bad but it is not great either. To find the tickets is not hard, you can get the tickets in some supermarkets in Lima or you can reserve online. To go from Lima to Callao is not so close and there is not so safe transportation from Lima except for a taxi but if you know Lima, you will have to negotiate in advance with the taxi driver because usually taxi drivers don't like to go in that area and they will try to overcharge. Callao is not safe but it is not bad close to the port because there are a lot of tourists.
The agencies ask you to be very early in the morning but in reality the boat takes long to arrive and you end up waiting for more than one hour to board. The Spondyllus is the boat that you will board and take the trip for almost 5 hours. In the tickets you will see that the return is in three hours which is not truth. From my point of view, it s a real long trip for children or elderly people, even for young. From the experience I had, the elderly people and children could not enjoy at all the trip because it was so wavy and people ended up throwing up and seasick.
The trip is long and the boat moves a lot which makes the trip difficult to endure. When you arrive to the place where the Lobos are, you cannot get out from the boat and people has to take the pics from the boat...but people is already sick and tired at that point and the boat doesn't stop to move... people just spend about 15 minutes there, time to take pictures and leave again.
The place is beautiful but 15 or 20 minutes without even have the chance to leave the boat...it is so disappointing.
I will have to mention that the Crew member were so nice and very professional, we were guide and assisted all the tour.
In conclusion, it is a tour for some and not for all. If you decide to go, bring pills, sunblock, something to drink and of course a cam because you will get beautiful ones.
