We loved Kokopelli, and to be honest, it's probably a big part of the reason we ended up liking Lima.
Located in Miraflores, it's an easy walk into the main district center, or even down to the beachfront, where there's various restaurants situated on the edge of the cliff. The hostal itself, having been open a matter of months, is clean, modern and well-laid out. The private rooms don't have bathrooms physically in them, but more locked bathrooms just outside. A bit odd at first but completely fine, and very clean! Upstairs, on the roof, is a great little bar with sofas dotted about, so you can relax with a chilled beer whilst watching the sunset and playing foosball. There's also a little kitchen to conjure up some culinary creations.
The thing that set this place apart (as seems to be the case with any good hostal) was the staff. They were absolutely superb. The hostal has a great travel booking service, and the young Peruvian fella whom helped us spoke excellent english and did everything he could to get us the best deal.
My only gripe was the room we were in, which was next to the bars on the street outside, was very loud at night. I think it was only that room that had a problem though, as our other friends had no problems!More
