“High Quality Peruvian food”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 5, 2013

Panchitas offers many standard Peruvian dishes prepared in an upscale environment. We found the restaurant on our own and loved it. Our Peruvian friends also chose it as a good example of local food, and we surprised them by knowing the GM from the previous evening. The food is a bit pricey, but if you are interested in trying some of the more . . . unique . . . offerings of Lima in a clean, beautiful place, try Panchitas.

The first night we had three samplers: egg rolls, street food (offal meat + sweetbreads), and stews (a few normal + lung, feet, heart, fried blood). It was mostly extremely good, although I confess that I didn't like the sweetbreads (thyroid glands).

The second night we ordered more normally, lomo saltado (heavy steak stir fry + potatoes and rice) and fried pork belly + roasted potatoes. It was amazing. Our local friends all ordered one of those dishes as well. The food is beautifully plated and extremely tasty.

The Pisco Sours are very strong; consider yourself warned.

The restaurant is only two blocks from the main square. We walked to and from both nights. It is a very safe part of Mires Flores (and thus a very, very safe part of Lima). Just watch your bags as if you were in any big city. They do not accept reservations, so be prepared to wait unless you show up early.

“In my opinion, the best Gaston Acurio restaurant in Peru”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 2, 2013

...and I (believe I have) eaten in all of them. It would be misleading to say this place isn't as "refined" as Astrid y Gaston—the service was outstanding, but it definitely had a more Peruvian flair and much, much bigger portions. This one is a little bit (just a tiny little bit) off the beaten tourist track compared to other famous restaurants, but the trip is worth it.

The food was great.

“Lima restaurant”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 30, 2013

Myself , wife & two friends enjoyed a very good meal at Panchita in Lima. The restaurant was full with customers waiting so making a reservation here would be advisable. Interestingly, there appeared to be many locals eating here, always a good sign. We shared beef with fried rice & beans, Milanese veal & ajida de gallina(hen ) with a desert of Picarones. All were extremely good- fresh produce cooked very well indeed. Service was good considering the number of customers. Very well worth a visit.

5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 27, 2013

The restaurante is located in a good neighborhood (Miraflores). The architecture of the restaurant is very nice, the atmosphere inside is cool. About the food i just can say that they have the best "anticuchos" in town.

It is a good place for special ocassions. The service also is very good and they have a great somelier that advice you which wine you should have.
