Both Carlos sr and carlos jr are absolute gems and so friendly. The food here is incredible. I think its the olive oil. We went for lunch on a sunny Sunday. It was empty when we arrived (the football was on) but soon filled up. Try the octopus sashimi and the leche de tigre. As one of the messages on the wall put it oh so well "Fresca in San Francisco could learn a thing or two from this place/"

Great food, amazing company with Carlos, the owner. I´ve been to Lima a few times and the cuisine, although world-famous, sometimes doesn´t meet expectations. CostAzul is the real deal....a must for any traveler to Lima. Great music as well!!

out first time in peru-we decided to have a dinner at Costazul based on other people reviews on this website. glad we did! i am very picky and spoiled with good New York City restaurants and service and honestly did not expect anything "wow" from Lima. I was mistaken. Seafood was sooooooooo good and fresh along with VERY attentive service. Orgie ceviche is our favorite. Carlos and my husband had a great time singing together and joking around. Pisco sour was great. After traveling everywhere in Peru we came back to Lima for our last night dinner at Costazul. As usual, food was GREAT/FRESH/DELICIOUS and Carlos & His wife were great hosts. We had traditional seafood soup (cannot remember the name), our favorite orgie ceviche and pasta with seafood. everything was great and fresh. at the end of our dinner Carlos and his wife offered us to be our Lima guides and showed us Lima. We learnt a lot about the city and people. We are so glad and grateful for their time and generous offer to be our personal guides! We had a great time in Peru, Lima, at Costazul restaurant and got VIP treatment on our last night in this beautiful country. We will be back soon to Peru and back to our favorite hidden gem restaurant in Lima and our new friend Carlos & his wife (sorry, do not know how to spell her name correctly). We missed you a lot!

Shortly after sunset we went to eat at Costazul, a great ceviche restaurant close to our hostel. The restaurant didn't look like much from the outside, but the owner greeted us shortly after we arrived and told us what people generally like. We ordered a large order of seafood empanadas (35 soles) and a large order of sea bass ceviche (30 soles). My husband also had a pisco sour (18 soles) that he thought was great.

The empanadas came with three delicious sauces - lemon, sweet, and guacamole. All three were absolutely delicious. Then the ceviche came out - it was served in little seashells with sea bass, onions, spices, and lemon juice mixed. This was also excellent, and of high quality.

We finished our meal with a slice of tres leches cake (10 soles), and then our server gave us some free Anis shots. Overall, a great last meal in Peru!

We had fun reading the different reviews people had written in chalk on the wall - in general, the vibe at Costazul was relaxed and informal (which is what we prefer). When we went on a Friday, it was not crowded.

This is by far one of the best restaurants in Lima! Went 2 times in 5 days! Even my boyfriend, who doesn't like seafood, was flipping with their crab empanadas and delicius ceviche. Carlos, the owner, could not be more attentive. During both visits he seated at our table, greeted and chatted with us. He even made our pisco sours himself! Would recommend 100%!
