I have been to Lima 5 times in the last twenty years and things have changed. For the good ...for the most part...but also much pricier than before. But...life is active here...people meandering about...that's nice to see. Haiti is located on what is one of the more active park/square areas. Sat down and had a nice sandwich...creatively structured...with peaches and avocado, on top of a chicken sandwich (essentially). It was tasty. The view was good. The service excellent and genuine.

Haiti is on my regular circuit of restaurants because of its central location in parque Kennedy. Sidewalk seating to people watch and enjoy a rare sunny day. The waiters are all older gentlemen who have been working there for years. I usually go to Haiti for breakfast. It is a decent morning walk and a pleasant place to drink cafe and read an American newspaper.

nice terrace for having something to drink and eat in the evening. Non pretentious place that beast most of the touristy stuff around. Food is OK for the money.

Good atmosphere and very good pisco sours, wait staff was friendly and our server spoke English. Had a very unusual salad which contained ingredients i have never seen in a salad before, but it was not bad.

We went because it was recommended by Lonely Planet, and it was totally fine, but we also ate at much simpler restaurants with much tastier food. It was a nice day so we sat outside - it may be a completely different experience inside. But I would recommend that before you sit down that you check out some of the other local cafes - some of which are maybe 200-300 ft down the road that looked a whole lot more interesting and lively.
