“Nice, long, sunny lunch”
Reviewed August 18, 2013

Visited on a Saturday in August. Finally got out of Miraflores and it was the first time I'd seen sunshine in a month!

The restaurant is well known for it's all-you-can-eat "pollo a la brasa" (rotisserie chicken), that comes with french fries, salad, and a soda for S/.67. Our lunch began with some warm, golf ball-sized bread rolls served with a yellow aji spread that was delicious. The bread basket had a hen covering to keep the rolls warm, with holes under its wings for retrieving the bread (see uploaded picture). As we saw on our way out of the restaurant, they also sell the bread basket and hen covering in the restaurant store, next to the front entrance.

The chickens they serve are baby chickens and quite small, so finishing 2-3 per adult is pretty manageable. A ceramic pot is provided in the center of the table to collect the chicken bones. The french fries were thick-cut, salted and quite good, but the ketchup was a little too sweet for my taste, although it did appear to be home-made.

The best part of being at La Granja Azul is the rustic charm, the beautiful scenery--and with a little luck--soaking up a little sunshine in the middle of August.

“A little out of the way but well worth the trip”
Reviewed November 24, 2012

According to Limenos, this restaurant was the best in the 1970s and a place to meet friends and spend a great afternoon amongst family and friends. I must agree. The eat all you can eat chicken will truely take care event to those most demaning apetites. The chicken is always tender and juice; the fries are always crunchy. Their coctails are truely an experience and their crepes a true delight. The service is fantastic.

“juicy chicken”
Reviewed October 9, 2012

This is a rustic restaurant with a classy clientel. You need to arrive early to get good parking, around 12:30. The drinks are good and you get to keep the creative vessels they come in. There are all kinds of games and rides for kids, located away from the main restaurant. Every table has a clay receptical in the center and trays of succulent chicken are placed on top of it. When you finish all the chicken you dump the bones in the clay pot and they bring you more chicken. This is served with the freshest lettuce and tomatoes you could imagine, plus a creamy dressing and the inevitable fried potatoes. There was nothing I didn't like about this place!
