“No hot water or coffee available”
Reviewed October 20, 2013

I arrived in Lima after 4 flights and almost 2 1/2 days without sleep. No coffee or sugar and milk available, either in the rooms or the kitchen. The room was fairly average but priced too high for the facilities. There was no hot water the night I arrived??? What was that about? The staff didn't elaborate. The reason I chose this hotel was for the welcoming shower on arrival after such a marathon trip. The bathroom had no exhaust fan, so mildew on the bathroom walls up near the window, and breakfast on the second day was late, stale bread, no spreads , no juice, and the woman setting up the breakfast didn't seem to care much whether we were given reasonable food or service. No help was given carting bags up flights of stairs. After a meal out on the second night, we had to wait to be let in because the desk staff had gone to the shop or wherever. Banging on the wooden fence and door eventually brought her back to the job. The main overhead light didn't work but I couldn't be bothered by this time asking to get it fixed. The lack of available coffee, milk and sugar was a big problem, quite stingy in my opinion. They need to try a bit harder for this price.

From the very beginning of the reservation, I got permanent contact with the front desk. They offered me the airport transfer at a charge if I needed it. Location is in Miraflores, an upscale neighbohood in Lima, ina very quiet little street. It's just a block and a half from the outstanding cliffs of Miraflores Area, and in one-minute walk, you get to see the Pacific Ocean. There are several options for eating around in the area. The multilingual staff is extremely friendly and helpful. I felt like I was at home at all times. They do their best in order to make you feel satisfied with your stay. Definitely, this hotel is a precious gem in Lima. I will definitely stay here again over and over again!
The only thing I didn't like was that my room was on the last floor (4th) and the stairs were tiring (there is no elevator). But all in all, it's a lovely place to stay! Thank you very much!!!

Rooms are really good, really big and superclean. the location is quite good, one block from the sea but a little bit distance from parque kennedy. the only think that i didn't like was the breakfast, so poor for the price we payed the room.

We traveled as family of 4 and stayed first 2 nights of our trip here. It's located on a quiet street close to the ocean and about 45-50 min. from the airport. What we didn't like was hotel's fee of US$ 50 for the transfer from airport. We could get a taxi at the airport for 60 soles but we were arriving at 7:30 pm and didn't want to risk it. Secondly, any noise or even conversations are heard through the walls and doors because of poor insulation and noisy wooden floors.
What we liked was breakfast and location in Miraflores, where hotels are expensive.
Overall experience was positive and it's a good value hotel.

Excellent hotel. Just one block from the beach, with nice and confortable rooms and a sympathetic staff. The breakfast is very good also. There are mny restaurants, stores and fairs nearby. It is a very good choice if you want to stay in Miraflores.

Room Tip: I had a cozy room at the last store, although you have to climb up some stairs...

We stayed in a few hotels during our trip in Peru and this one had the most comfortable room and bed. We paid US $66 for a king size bed. We loved the location! It is a block away from the Miraflores cliffs and parks. Most importantly, it was quiet during the night. The staff was very friendly and they even arranged for us to have breakfast before 6 am as we were catching an early international flight.

Simple bed & breakfast, nothing fancy--that's how we prefer to travel. But after Baraybar, "simple" will never be the same. It's a smallish house in the upscale neighborhood of Miraflores, a minute away from the cliffs, turned into lush manicured parks, that overlook the Pacific. The furnishings aren't luxurious, but the rooms are cozy--the two we stayed in had one wall of bare brick that gave them a home-not-a-hotel feel we enjoyed. Everything was super clean, well-maintained; everything worked (the cable signal was a bit spotty, but hey--one doesn't go to Perú to watch TV). And the staff! Hands down, the friendliest people we met in Perú--and we met quite a few. Super helpful but respectful, polite and attentive; they made us feel they cared sincerely about our enjoyment. We stayed at Baraybar for three nights at the start of our Perú trip, then two more at the end, and coming back that last weekend felt like coming home. Whenever we go back to Lima, we'll definitely stay there. Thank you, Baraybar!

Room Tip: The area is quiet--no partying, no loud music--so perfect for light sleepers. If noise does bother y...
