“Nice place to relax mid-afternoon”
Reviewed December 9, 2011

Visited Barranco and found very little to do. Thankfully, we stopped at Chala's, near the Bridge fo Sighs. Sat on the outside porch and had a few pisco sours and ordered a few appetizers. It wasn't crowed and they let us take our time. Service was good, food was delicious, presentation was excellent.

“Although the food was not good we would visit again just to enjoy views...”
Reviewed October 2, 2011

We visited this restaurant at night, sit at terrace where atmosphere was very romantic because of street views and lightening, we really enjoy it so much. Cocktails were average; we do not like food it seems that something missing on dishes to testing well, same for desserts. We ordered a causa trio, aji de gallina bowls, and a testing menu for desserts. However, although the food was not good we would visit again just to enjoy the view and a romantic evening. Restaurant is really expensive for having regular quality food...

“Amazing food, great value and good service”
Reviewed September 12, 2011

Had an amazing dinner here while staying in Lima's Barranco area. We had the duck cigars to start, then I had the trio of rice and my husband had salmon. The entree menue was bilingual (Spanish/English), but the appetizer menu was not so our travel Spanish/English dictionary came in handy (Our servers were attentive, but did not speak a lot of English. The manager on duty did, however!).

The atmosphere was very chic, but still welcoming.

It was very reasonable given the exchange rate, especially given that a promotion was going on where you received a 25% discount when you used MasterCard! So all in all, it cost us $50CAD for an appetizer, dinner and drinks for two. (Would have been $150CAD at home!).

We loved it so much that we tried to go back on our last night, but they weren't open yet (A lot of restaurants don't open until 8/8:30pm... and unfortunately we had to leave for the airport at 9pm).

“Wow, still dreaming of the food!”
Reviewed April 14, 2011

Fantastic food. I had the fettucini a la Huancaina (44 Soles), one of the best plates I ate in Peru. The restaurant is a bit on the pricey side. They charge you an unexpected 12 Soles “cover” chargeper person. Nevertheless definitely worth visiting and overall still a very good price/value relation (value is just unbeatable good! Yummy)! Fantastic food in a very nice setting at one of the best spots in Barranco.
Not to be missed!!!

“decent food, but too expensive and uneven atmosphere/service”
Reviewed September 18, 2010

Chala Costa was good, but seemed to be trying too hard and not quite in the right ways. The place was clearly aimed at tourists: it's prices rivalled those at Astrid y Gastón but without the food quality or service to match. The decór was trendy and modern, but the music was too loud to easily hear my dining companion or the waiters (and it didn't help translation, for while my Spanish is decent, it degrades rapidly in noisy conditions).
