“Great Vegetarian Food”
Reviewed February 2, 2013

It's hard to find vegetarian meals in Iquitos.. We came here after a day in the city and I'm glad I did. It's a tiny, low key restaurant and the lady who runs it is so sweet. She said that nobody local will eat there because people don't want to eat food without meat.

There wasn't a menu, she just gave us the meal of the day but it was really good and very filling. It was a big bowl of vegetable soup and pasta. The price was great too, at just 10 soles per person.

“Good, home-cooked vegetarian food”
Reviewed January 26, 2013

There are very few vegetarian restaurants in Iquitos, and I've been to them all. The Happy Cow web site is a good resource to find the other two that I know about here in Iquitos. This is the best one, taking everything into consideration. The price in December 2012 is 10 soles for the meal of the day. It isn't haute cuisine, but it's like home-cooked food. If you are trying to eat as healthy as possible, this is a great place to go in Iquitos, and it's not a very far walk from the main square. This restaurant has the best tasting veggie food in Iquitos (in my humble opinion), and the price is about the same as the others. Worth a try!

“My Family in Iquitos”
Reviewed July 15, 2012

This is such a wonderful restaurant. Be prepared to be nourished on EVERY level. The food is amazing, and the family who owns this amazing little restaurant have stolen my heart forever. They quickly became family, opening their arms to everyone who enters and making sure to fill everyones stomachs and hearts with the most nourishment

“Tasty vegetarian food made with love”
Reviewed May 31, 2012

The family of owners are very sweet people, and the food reflects it. Everything is made carefully, and the prices are even super low. A friend of mine who ate there with us recently said their food even tasted better than the most expensive restaurant in town.

Our favorite dishes are the seitan hamburger, which we always ask for doubled up with "meat," and their barley soups are one of a kind in Iquitos.

A confident five stars to them.

“A Healthful Vegetarian Alternative”
Reviewed March 29, 2012

This little restaurant opened in January 2012, run by a friendly Seventh-Day-Adventist family. To my knowledge, it is the only vegetarian oasis in this jungle city of 400,000. The set lunch (8 soles/US$3) includes soup, a choice of entree (usually with rice), and a cool fruit drink. You can also order off the menu, which includes veggie burgers, salads, sandwiches, and fruit juices. A healthful alternative to the typical Iquitos fare. The family is eager to attract foreign visitors, though the language barrier can be a problem.
