We took a motocar out past the airport to this hidden sanctuary for rescued manatees. IT'S AMAZING! We were given an hour tour by a 13 year old boy from the USA who was volunteering there for three weeks. He was impressive with his knowledge and care for the animals. There are other adults who work there full time. They have small tanks for the smaller manatees and you get to feed them milk from bottles. The larger ones are in lakes your walk by to get to the facility. They are the sweetest animals and it's so amazing to be up close and personal with them. This is a donation only facility so give as much as you can for these rescued animals (who are released back in a nature reserve after they have been cared for here). DO NOT MISS!
