This hotel is in a historic mansion from the rubber boom era when it was the house of a wealthy Iquitos citizen and it has retained much of the charm of that time. It served as a nice place for us to base our tours of the Amazon basin and is within a short walk of many restaurants along the riverfront. We even had a view of the Amazon River and a small city park out of our window. The staff was great and were willing to assist us in any way they could. Breakfast consisted of fresh fruits and choice of eggs each morning.

Walk into the foyer of this hotel and you feel like you have stepped back into the time of the rubber barons. high ceilings, tile, aged wood floors. our room was gigantic with a living room as well as a bedroom. The tile on the floors and walls looked original. the ceilings were high and windows to the street/river were floor to ceiling. breakfast was meagre, though we were leaving before they had it all set up. Toiletries consisted of a bar of soap and a dispenser of soap/shampoo. Across the street was a bar that had an enthusiastic band playing til about 2am but the music was great so we just enjoyed it. Ramon was very helpful.

I love this place. Room is huge with high ceiling, a little living room is also included. Decorations in the hotel and in the room are beautiful with a little antique touch. The front desk-Ramon, served as our Belen market tour guide for half a day. He did a wonderful job! At first, we thought a tour guide may not be necessary but changed our mind last minute. After visiting the market, we were so glad we hired him. For people who speak minimal Spanish, a tour guide/local is really helpful! At the same time, he is great help when we asked for his recommendations for local restaurants.
Breakfast at the hotel is very good and generous. Varieties are served and will keep you full till lunch!

Ramon and the rest of the staff made us feel right at home. My mother and I spent 10 days in this beautiful, restored rubber baron's home. Our room faced the quiet plaza Ramon Castilla.......I recomend the location. We were doing family research on my maternal grandparents and Ramon was so helpful. We couldn't have done what we did without his help. He also arranged a very nice day trip for us which we really enjoyed. The breakfasts were tasty and served with a smile! Thank you Ramon, Saritsa, Daisy and the rest of the staff.

Room Tip: The rooms facing the plaza are very quiet.

We had 2 nights here at the start and end of our trip to the Amazon. Ramon welcomed us and showed us to our beautiful room (probably the size of my house). The A/C was a welcome relief from the heat. It's such an interesting building and Ramon encourages you to explore the hotel and make yourself at home.

Breakfast was very good and on our last morning we were leaving early for the airport we we offered a light breakfast. On the last night we didn't have much water and it was pretty cold but we were just back from jungle so cold water was a relief.

We had a view of the Amazon from the window of both rooms - beautiful.
