“Noisy & disappointing”
Reviewed May 12, 2014

I had booked a twin room with balcony via internet. On arrival we were presented with a triple room without even a window! Reception said this was the only room left but clearly not what I had booked. The hot water took over 5 mins to come through and then was tepid at best. From about 11pm music from a nearby nightclub started and carried on until 330am so earplugs are needed. Breakfast was good however and the only redeeming feature of this over priced hotel. We stayed in room 215 which I suggest you don't.

Room Tip: Make sure you have balcony at front of hotel - there again that's what I booked!

fantastic room, excellent location, service it was fine. the hotel extra charges 10% using your credit or debit card. The staff welcome you coca tea and also offers to you some tours using a CUSCO LATIN TRECKS agency looks like the hostal owner also owns the agency.

breakfast is included but they start serving late and no special arrangements.

also offers private service to the airport for 15 soles but traveling in a group as I did 3 people is cheaper walking outside because the taxi just charge 10 soles for 3 people.

great experience

Inti Wasi is a Hostal because there are no little shampoos, bedroom slippers, turn down service nor doorman. Such a fabulous location, just walk out to the Plaza de Armas, easy, delightful. Also the rooms are all different since the building is considered part of the national culture's treasure, nothing can be modified; pay attention to how you walk as there can been uneven steps and hallways. No elevator. Low security but no problems. One morning we found some backpackers asleep on the giant living room's sofas.
Our triple for the kids was great, balcony over the pedestrian street, adequate, very clean, modern bathroom, everything worked. Space heater helpful. Our double worked fine except the television reception was bad; the sponge stuffing was popping out of the mattress; our windows looked out over a lovely park and church; on the weekend many drunken tourists sing and shout (loudly) in this park. Wi-fi reception was good in our rooms.
Breakfasts were great- Fresh fruit, freshly made fruit shakes, breads, marmalades, yogurts, coffee, teas, cheeses and hams; ask for scrambled eggs, hot chocolate and pancakes (not offered every day). Staff extremely helpful, will always suggest tourist sights and how to go.
Hopefully, we will return again to this Hostal.

Room Tip: If you wish, request a balcony room or at least a room with windows 👀

Stayed first two nights in Cusco in a triple room
The location is great, on the central plaza. The staff is friendly and the rooms are clean.
We had a room with no windows at all, so the good side of it, that it was not noisy , but ...
The price, however, is a bit high for what you get compering to other places 100 - 200 meters away.

Overall our stay at the Hostal Inti Wasi was a very good value for the money. You're not going to find a cleaner room, or more welcoming staff at this price, anywhere directly adjacent to the Plaza de Armas. We had a little trouble locating the entrance early in the morning as cuzco has a lot of small hostels and several people gave us incorrect directions. (Entrance is on a small side-street on the northwest side of the plaza.) Either way, they had rooms available without a reservation and were willing to negotiate on price. The desk staff was very welcoming and made sure that we had everything we needed for our stay. The location is amazing but as with all buildings in the historic district, it's an older building. The walls are thin, so be sure to have earplugs. Also, being that it is such a popular location, you will have some street noise from passers-by and early in the morning they were doing a bit of construction on the street which was loud. Hot water was plentiful and we had a great view from our room of a smaller plaza west of the plaza de armas. Overall I would definitely recommend this hotel, and would give it 5 stars, except for the noise, but that's out of their control. Overall a great experience!

My husband and I stayed here for 4 nights. We had a double room with a private bathroom. The room was spacious and clean, the bathroom had a nice hot shower and there was wifi throughout the hostel. The staff was very helpful although I don't recommend booking trips and treks through the hostel as they may be overpriced. Just go on the main plaza de arma and hussle your way with the local travel agents. The hostel sent a taxi for us at the Cusco aeroport very early in the morning and we were greated with Coca tea at the hostel and able to use the amenities before the check-in time. We went on a 5 day trek to Machu Pichu and the Inti Wassi hostel kindly offered to keep our huge backpacks in their storage for no extra fee.

The hostel is conveniently located on the beautiful plaza de arma where we were lucky enough to partake in the local ceremonies surrounding the Inti Raymi (the Inca's festival of the sun on june 24th). The proximity to the plaza means it can be loud and noisy at times.

This is not a party or an adventure hostel where you should expect to meet a lot of young travellers, but more so a nice "upscale" hostel for older travellers on a budget.

Room Tip: get a room overlooking the plaza de arma so that you don't miss any of the festivities
