Up until this point in almost 11 months of travel we booked accommodation ourselves by researching on the internet, this time we believed an agent at the airport in Cusco who was selling rooms at different hotels and hostals in Cusco and showed us photos of this one and said it was excellent. We were taken into town in a minibus for 10 soles each to the hostal. We were shown 3 rooms all of which were dark and pretty miserable and nothing like the photos in the pamphlet. Because it was late and we had dragged our bags this far we decided to check in for one night and wait until the following day to find something better. The room was dark with no window and a massive spreading damp stain on the ceiling, but better than the other rooms we were shown which were on the ground floor facing on to the street and would be noisy. The bathroom was old and very badly finished but reasonably clean. The carpet in the room was old and looked dirty. The bed was comfortable enough but I wouldn't want to see the mattress. Breakfast was a miserable 2 pieces of stale flat bread, some jam and a bit of butter with a coffee or tea. IThis place was way overpriced for what it was. We have stayed in a lot of hostals and this one was the worst by miles, we checked out the next morning and got away as quickly as we could, finding a lovely and cheaper hostel much more centrally located called Casa Grande, 353 Santa Catalina Ancha.
