“Midori Hotel: Best place in Cusco”
Reviewed September 9, 2010

We had a double room with a private bath - TV in the room with cable & lots of hot water. All for less than 90$ a night. Cute little courtyard to relax in and free breakfasts (eggs, fruit, pastries, etc.). Coffee & coca tea available all the time.

Located really close to the main Plaza in Cusco and near the Inca Museum.

The staff was beyond helpful - they all spoke excellent english and when we had a near-disaster in our plans, they saved us by keeping our bags and helping us organize a backup plan.

Great value for us - we had intended to stay in hostels, but for the few extra dollars the comfort and service was well worth it.

My wife and I stayed in this hotel for four nights durting a recent tour of Peru, along with our teenage son, and we loved it. We had been concerned that because of late booking our requested three-bed room might be on the small side, but we needn't have worried. Our room for the first two nights was more than adequate, while for the second two nights we were moved into a delightful room far more spacious than we might have anticipated in a hotel of this size and rating. The hotel itself is perfectly positioned, a short 5-minute climb up one of the narrow streets off the main square - close to the main action, but sufficiently removed for there to be none of the noise that affected our sleep at some of the other hotels we stayed in on the trip. The building itself is full of character and charm, but what really made the stay for us was the friendliness, enthusiasm and kindness of the staff. They treated us extremely well throughout, and nothing was too much trouble for them. Buffet breakfast was good, and beds comfortable. Our son appreciated the use of the internet on the guests' computer, available at a mere 3 soles per hour, as well as the tv in our room which had enough English-speaking channels to keep him comfortably occupied during chill-out time. I'd happily return to this hotel. We felt immediately at home here and felt it was very good value for money.

I absolutely loved the Midori hotel. The staff is genuinely helpful and considerate. Our room was super clean and spacious. The courtyard was immaculate and charming. The wait-staff and chef in the restaurant were wonderful.....the best cup of hot cocoa ever! The hotel is only one block away from the plaza, and very easy to walk to shops and restaurants. I would like to personally thank Luz and her staff for such wonderful attention. They emailed several times to confirm our reservations. Before checking us in, they brought us to the courtyard for some coco-mate tea to help with altitude sickness. My daughter left her ipod in the taxi car, and Luz went all the way back to the airport and found it for us!!! Everyone at the front desk couldn't have been more helpful, from arranging taxi's to recommending activities for the day. I would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Cusco. Thank you, Luz!

The hotel is basic and functional. In a category between two and three star. The staff is helpful. The rooms are OK. Oxygen tank is provided if needed. Heating through an electric heater.

We stayed at the Midori for 6 nights between excursions from Cuzco. Overall we were disappointed with the facility. Our stay was booked by a travel service (Inkanatura) and a double room was requested - I was not aware that a double room meant 2 twin beds - one must request a "matrimonial" room to get a small double bed. This was not available except for a couple nights of our stay. Although the rooms were clean, they were small, cramped and cold - floor heater was barely adequate. Beds were uncomfortable with very small pillow. Bath was adequate although one of our room's baths had very bad smell that persisted throughout stay.

The breakfast buffet was also a disappointment.

The only positives of this facility are location and free WiFi. I must add that the staff tried very hard and were as helpful as possible. I would recommend spending $30 extra a night and upgrading to a better hotel.

Stayed at Hotel Midori for three nights as a base for trips around Cuzco in May 2009. Then came back for two more nights. Very, very clean and safe. Intelligent helpful staff and they will store baggage for you. Great location adjacent to Plaza de Los Armas. Only downfall? Noise. There is a middle school across from the front door so all of the kiddie noise rolls into the hotel....including band practice. Also the staff was very noisy via walkie talkies beginning at 6 AM. Standard breakfast that all Peru hotels have...wierd granola, fresh fruit, odd baked goods, cafe tinto, and of course cocoa leaves for tea. The posted rate is $90 american per night which is stupid. The real rate is $70. A bit pricey but you pay for nice furniture and location. Also ...how much is clean worth to you?

We loved this hotel. It is quaint and cozy but the rooms are plenty big and very clean. It was just a short walk to the town square and lots of great cafes. The breakfast buffet was nice and the staff is very helpful and friendly. We would stay again.
