Antares Mystic Hotel
Ranked #80 of 171 Hotels in Cusco
Reviewed May 31, 2013

Was working in Lima and did a wham/bam trip to Machu Picchu and stayed in this place firstt night and last night. It's not a HOTEL. This place is old, cold and overpriced. Woman that runs the place sticks tight to no refund/cancellation policy. The staff is pleasant and helpful. breakfast is MINIMAL. The room I stayed in was extremely old and creeky. beds are not comfortable. ten minute wait for cold water in shower. The floor in my room was literally on a downhill slant from one side of he room to the other, like the building is trying to fall apart or something. And if you absolutely MUST stay here, for gods sake don't get a room on the street front (unless you hate sleep), because the noise at the huge market directly across the street begins b4 daylight. There absolutely MUST be a better place in Cusco.

Room Tip: Don't get a street front room

1) Yes, we are a Hotel with all the BASIC services for the tourist (see the hotel web page). We are a 2 star HOTEL, qualified and verified by the Peruvian Government, with all the law permissions.
2) We are a property builded on 2000 year, and we run a yearly maintenance. Cusco is an historic therefore an old city and the most of hotels and properties within downtown area must just adecuate the ancient existing buildings according to law , because they are cultural patrimony, which not means the place is Deteriorated or useless.
3) Generally we have passengers that are grateful with our service (see other reviews) , we have No SHOW policies when the passengers want to cancel the booking OUT OF TIME. If the cancellation is made according the policy (72 hours before the Check In) we don´t charge or we refund 100 %. That´s why Policies are.
4) We have hot, really hot water the 24h/7d because Cusco is a cold city overall at early mornings and nights. Let our passengers wait 10 minutes for hot water would mean too bad for the business and we are attending along the last 13 years.

Finally we apologize our passengers if our hotel, staff, services or Policies are not the expected, and this review will help us to improve. We want to serve our clients the best we can do and also we want Our passengers to respect the Country policies as well as the HOTEL policies.

Located right downtown Cusco makes this hotel very convenient! Its quiet, nice and quaint, no bells and whistles. Small, minimal rooms, just the necessities, but thats all we needed. Free pick up from airport and complementary breakfasts. Very helpful and polite staff made the stay very welcoming. We were very pleased!!

This is a good value hotel with excellent, kind staff. Rooms aren't luxurious but are clean and comfortable. Their breakfast was nice as well - bread, scrambled eggs, fresh squeezed orange juice and coffee or tea. I recommend this hotel for the budget traveller.

There's nothing wrong with this hotel, but it is a bit underwhelming. The staff is friendly. The rooms are small. For the most part the beds are comfortable, but they could definitely be thicker and softer.

This place was fine. They forgot to pick us up at the airport and we have to arrange a taxi to drop us off. They paid for the taxi. The staff was very friendly and we were able to store our luggage while on the Inca trail. No cost. We did have them do laundry twice. First time - late, second time - right on time. Rooms were large and clean. Breakfast was standard and they made it early one morning at our request. Nice. Place to lock valuables in lockers in the lobby. Worked out good. Nothing fancy, but I would stay again for the price.

There is nothing particularly romantic or special about this spot - but given the price, perhaps that is just fine. There was plenty of hot water, and the breakfast was pretty standard. The service was very good and the staff was friendly and helpful. What bothered me was that the windows either pointed into an interior courtyard, or out into loud traffic. This meant a relative lack of fresh air, and given the carpeting, this made the room smell either musty or like cleaning solution. The beds were a little rough - I could feel the springs. One plus is that this hotel is located on the more 'real' side of town - away from the main tourist attractions by a few blocks, but still close enough to walk. So for those who want to see more of the real city - the local market, local bustle of the city, street vendors, etc. - this could be great. For the price, perhaps this is all fine - but given the great selection of historical hotels in Cusco, it seems like there might be better options. (For a similar price, Niños is in the same area and much more charming.)

I stayed here two nights with my family on September 2012, and would again.

Picking us up from the airport was included in the price and they were very friendly to us. They offered us coca leaf tea upon our arrival to the hotel, to avoid getting the altitude sickness, and we loved it.

Next day we were going to Machu Picchu so we woke up very early (3AM) and they had breakfast ready for us, and we payed a small fee and they took us to the train station in their van. They also kept our bulky luggage in our rooms while we stayed a night in the Machupicchu town.

When I return to Cusco, I'll stay here, for sure. Keep it up! :)
