“Amazing Museum!”
Reviewed September 12, 2012

This is without doubt one of the most well presented museums I have visited. The museo is situated in the lovely Plaza de las Nazarenas not far from the Plaza de Armas. It is small enough in size and centres around a picturesque little courtyard. The pieces on display range from pottery to sculpture and jewellery and are treated as works of art rather than solely as objects of material culture. Reference is made to European artists (eg. Henry Moore) who have taken inspiration from these objects of pre Inka culture in their own art and this is acknowledged in the form of quotes dotted throughout the exhibition rooms. The exhibits are well lit in darkened rooms and accompanying placards speak eloquently of the artistic details and styles of each object. The art itself is stunning and the way in which it is displayed further enhances the visitor experience. I left the museum in awe and incredibly inspired by the collection. Do not miss this!!

“Excellent exhibits and presentation”

A really well presented museum that displays each exhibit to its full potential. Explanations are in Spanish only but are clear and helpful. The Inca Museum should be like this.

“Wonderful. Just wonderful”
Reviewed July 12, 2012

OK, so here is a secret confession. I don't much enjoy seeing ancient pots and pans in stuffy museums. This museum though I loved.
It's a small collection, beautifully presented and i found the exhibits stunningly beautiful. It even impressed my 11 year old daughter who read just about every bit of information provided.
A delight!
