“Better than home!”
Reviewed December 2, 2013

We were totally delighted with our experience at Torre Dorada. The staff, the accommodations, even the free breakfasts were excellent. Although the hotel is a little off the beaten path, it was never a problem: a car service drops you off and picks you up whenever you are ready to head into town. They also picked us up from the airport (even though I hadn't asked beforehand and called from the airport-- they were there in 5 minutes), took us to the train/bus stations, and were unfailingly friendly and polite. This hotel is a true treasure.

This place has everything you need and more! First off the hotel itself is beautifully decorated and the rooms are warm and inviting. The best part of the hotel are the staff and services. Peggy (owner), Martin, David, Mario the two lovely ladies at breakfast, everyone was so kind, friendly and helpful!
Martin, the front desk manager, was wonderful and helped arrange my trip to Puno and Lake Titicaca. David one of the drivers was great and took the time to show me all the great places to visit/eat/drink in Cuzco. The service there was impeccable and the people there are absolutely amazing.
Breakfast is included and great. There is a great shuttle service that drops you off and picks you up according to your schedule. There is also wi-Fi included as well. You also have a safe in your rooms for important documents and such. There is also a common area where there are books you can read, complimentary hot water for tea 24/7 and a printer for you to check-in and print out boarding passes.
I can't say enough about the people there, they went above and beyond the job description and made my visit to cuzco a fond and memorable experience. I would highly recommend this place to other travelers. It is a great way to rest up and get use to the altitude.

The owner(s) of Torre Dorada evidently wrote the book on Hospitality Courtesy and Service. Everybody, from the front desk managers to the two ladies at the breakfast service, and to the very helpful and courteous shuttle chauffeurs were extremely accommodating. We spend four nights at the Torre Dorada with a couple of days in-between to visit Machu Picchu They had reserved for us a top floor room with a pretty view but since the property doesn’t have elevators we asked for a ground floor unit. The request was granted right away. Maybe it didn’t have the great view but considering that it takes at least two days for a couple in their sixties to acclimate to the altitude it proved to be the right choice. With a ten minutes notice, sometime less, the hotel shuttle will drive you to the city center, the Plaza de Armas. When ready to return to the hotel (there are public phones close by the pickup point) and after ten minutes wait the car is there. Be sure to have 50 centimos coins with you for the public phone call. Also, let the hotel know of the details of your arrival and departure at the airport and the shuttle will drive you both ways as a courtesy. This is a new property, lots of glass and cheerful colors all around. We heard quite a few languages spoken there as you would expect, with Spanish and English being prevalent. The rooms are on the smaller side but still with plenty of space to move around and with good places to set things and hang clothes. Rooms are very clean, sheets and towels were spotless, and there is a safe available, plus complimentary water on your first night. Torre Dorada at our request made all the reservations for tours, train travels and sightseeing, including the transportation, entrance fees and guide to Machu Picchu. This would be a firm four star plus hotel in Cusco, but the very evident and genuine concern for their guest's comfort brings Torre Dorada to a higher level.

Room Tip: Lower floor rooms for elderly travelers.

This hotel got everything we needed for our trip. The breakfast was great, the room was cleaned everyday. More than anything, the stuff were very friendly and helpful. We exchanged some emails before the trip, but they always wrote me back right away and arranged machupichu tickets and other tours for us too.
We used their free 24 hour shuttle service a lot and they always picked us up on time.
I absolutely recommend this hotel to everyone and will stay there again!!!

This review is long overdue, but might be forgivable as this is my first review on trip advisor! I was helping a friend put their itinerary together for Peru when I came across this hotel again. My friends and I stayed here 2 years ago and it’s nice to see that the recent reviews posted are still describing the hotel as I remembered it. I mainly chose the hotel based on the reviews mentioning the great service and staff. It was spot on! The people are the friendliest and really accommodating. Our room for a party of 3 was very cozy and had everything we needed. It reminded me of staying in someone’s home and exuded warmth.

The hotel staff also helped me arrange a driver to take us around to other sites and to drop us off in a nearby town for a reasonable price. Although the hotel is not located in the city center, it was not a problem as they arranged free drop off and pick up anytime we needed. We were a little apprehensive being abroad as it was one of our first trips out of the country and the staff was so kind in answering all our questions and calming our nerves. After all, it says a lot that I find myself thinking about the wonderful staff time and again when recalling my trip to Peru. Definitely one of the best hotels I stayed in and well managed.

We had a relaxing 2- night stay at Hotel Torre Dorada. The hotel is quiet, in a nice neighborhood, only a 10-15 minute ride to the Plaza de Armas. Our room was small but there are lots of places in the hotel to sit and relax - each floor has it's own sitting area and there is a nice outdoor seating area with views on the top floor.

We used the shuttle several times and never had to wait. The staff were very helpful - they were able to accommodate our need for quick turnaround on laundry and provided us with all we needed (plates, napkins, corkscrew, wine glasses) to enjoy the food we brought back for a "picnic" dinner on the outside patio. The breakfast was very good too.

From the moment we booked Torre Dorada we received great service and felt welcomed by the hotel staff.

We received emails in advance of our stay explaining the hotel's amenities and arranging our free airport transfer. On arrival we were given coca tea and there is tea available 24hours, as well as free oxygen, in case of altitude sickness.

We also emailed the staff in advance of our stay with questions etc and they went out of their way to help us. They arranged a guide for us at Machu Picchu, transfers to and from poroy station and booked us onto a city tour of cusco and surrounding area.

The hotel is clean and cozy and the breakfast is delicious with an egg station where you can order eggs to your liking. You also get a boxed breakfast if you are heading to Machu Picchu early in the morning.

The hotel isn't near to the centre of cusco but you really don't notice as there is a free drop off and pick up service to the centre (around 10/15 min drive) anytime.

We received fantastic and welcoming service at the hotel and would definitely recommend this as a place to stay in cusco.
