“Quiet and simple but good location and value”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 20, 2014

The location is amazing - 2 min walk to to center of Cusco (Plaza da Armas) and the place is clean with friendly staff. if you are looking for a fun hostel to meet people though this is not that kinda of place - it is more of a hotel in this sense. The rooms are simple but clean and the shower is nice and strong (and hot!) which was much needed after the Inca trail! Overall we were pretty happy and felt it was a good hotel for the price you pay (much better than another similar one we stayed at for a higher price in the area).

Stayed there 2 nights before heading on the 4 day Inca trail to Machu Picchu. The place is clean, they make your beds (not every place does in Peru), breakfast is provided, there's hot water 24x7, coca tea available 24x7, and good wi-fi - basically everything you need.

The location is great, just 50 metres from the main square of Cusco, close to the cathedrals and the best pubs, restaurants. The staff is very friendly and helpful. They printed out our tickets for us and were very obliging.

There are probably other good hostels too, but this one is quiet and worth the money. If you're looking for a place to interact with other guests however, this is not the right choice.

This is a solid choice among an array of bad hostals in a tourist hot spot. The hostal was very clean and the rooms well decorated with nice atmosphere. It is about a 2 minute walk from the Plaza De Armas/center of the city. There are several rooms with very good views although ours didn't have a view. The service was great. They helped us get a cab to the airport at the last minute when ours didn't show up and they also helped us check into our flight by phone when Lan's webpage wasn't working. I had sound sleep all three nights as it was a very quiet and peaceful place - great for resting after the trip to Machu Picchu Breakfast is very limited with poor food service but that didn't bother me. I would definitely recommend this place as it hits high on all key factors - location, cleanliness, atmosphere and service.

I had a very good experience at El Triunfo.

PROS: Internet is good. Location is right in the heart of the city, right-by Plaza de Armas. Place has breakfast. Clean. Staff is very helpful and very polite. GREAT PRICE.

CONS: The nearby night life can be loud for sleeping, depending on the room.

Room Tip: Try to not get a room on calle de Triunfo

The strongest point of El Triunfo is it's location. Just a few steps from Plaza de Armas and from Plazoleta Nazarenas and the good restaurants around.
Norma and Giovana are very attencious and made me feel at home.
The rooms are clean, the shower is wonderful and the wifi worked all the time. The only "but" is the breakfast that is quite poor but it's not a serious point.
It's a very good option for what you pay.

Room Tip: The rooms near the reception are a little noisy.

Stayed here mid-September and the private room on the second floor was big with a private bathroom and a great view out the window. It was super clean, staff was mostly friendly, and the location is great — it's super close to the Plaza De Armas (but far enough away to not be loud). Breakfast was simple but good enough — fruit, cheese, coldcuts, etc (bread was horrible). We had altitude sickness since it was our first day in Peru, and this place was located pretty high up in Cusco, so that didn't help — if you're prone to altitude sickness, be aware of that. WiFi is spotty but works better near the front desk area. We had hot water, but it would run out pretty quickly — we managed to get our showers in before it got too cold though. They also let us store our bags here during the day while we toured. Overall, this hostel was a great value compared to the other place we stayed at in Cusco and I was definitely happy/satisfied with it.

I stayed two non-consecutive nights in two separate rooms (double and triple) before and after a trip to Machu Picchu. I thoroughly enjoyed my stay at El Triunfo and would highly recommend. The rooms were comfortable and seemed recently upgraded with modern furnishings. They were clean and spacious and the bathrooms were gorgeous. The WiFi was a little spotty at times, but was better on the third floor than the second.

Included breakfast was very nice, bread with jam and butter, cake, fruit, granola, tea, juice and coffee. It starts early (6 am) for those with early trains to Aguas Calientes. Views over Cusco were beautiful, and the location was very close to Plaza de Armas with restaurants and tour operators close by.
