I stayed at this hotel for 3 nights with some friends at the end of a month-long holiday in South America. My expectations were not very high. Was I surprised! The staff were very friendly and helpful; they couldn't do enough for us. The rooms we had were very good, clean and comfortable. This was a great little hotel and close to various places we could walk to, including city center. The hotel doesn't have a gym or pool, but there is so much history and so much to see in Cusco that a pool wasn't even on the list when choosing a hotel. We ate in the hotel one night and the food was very tasty and cheap. Due to all our walking activity during the day, that, combined with the altitude, we fell asleep early in the evenings and slept very well on the comfortable beds. We truly enjoyed our stay here.

1. They picked us up from the Airport for Free.
2. They gave a 10 minute explanation of the city and answered every possible question we had in english
3. We stayed Monday in the standard room and it was adequate, passed out with altitude fatigue and slept great, we went to Machu Pichu Tuesday, stayed there. On Wednesday we returned and they upgraded us for free to a luxurious sweet, jacuzzi, slippers, robes, enormous bathroom, we are generally budget travelers so this was such an added bonus, so ralaxing.
4. The breakfast is a buffet that includes make to order omelottes! FREE
5. The price value eqution was favorable. Free Coca Tea at all times! FREE
6. Called cabs for us that arrived almost instantly, price 3-6 Soles for anywhere in the city, equivalent to 1.5-3 USD

Will for sure return as long as the price remains ...

These guys & gals are doing a great job in a hard environment. The staff are wonderful and went 'above and beyond' to help this particular traveller with crap Spanish. Those with superior; and those with just some English; seemed to enjoy being a part of making a success of the Hotel/Restaurant. They wanted to engage with the client - even when they were REALLY struggling with language. They appeared to be trying to have, and introduce fun. That's something you don't see too often. Management may well be doing a good job here? I had two different rooms here. One big, one small. Both comfortable and by world standards (in my opinion) about 3.5* Both rooms crisp and clean. Stay here... it's a good place.

I stayed here with friends at the end of a 3.5-week trip in South America. Cusco was supposed to be a quick stopover before flying out in the morning, but I ended up enjoying my brief time in the town enough to consider it a highlight of the trip. Much of my pleasant experience was due to staying at the Terra Andina Hotel.

Upon arriving, we were greeted at our taxi by a bellman who brought us into the lobby and offered us complimentary tea while we went over our reservation from the comfort of the lobby couches. I've never seen a check-in process executed in this way, and I found it to be a very nice touch.

The room itself was quite spacious and the beds were very comfortable. After spending the previous day at Machu Picchu and having gotten little sleep that night, it was amazing to take a nap before going out to explore the town. The town was wonderful--we had an excellent lunch and walked around the town square. I wish I'd been able to spend several more days there!

Breakfast in the morning was some of the best I'd had in South America and the hotel arranged a taxi to the airport at an absurdly low price.

Everything, from the moment we arrived until we headed out to the airport, was perfect and demonstrated a strong attention to detail and service. I highly recommend the Terra Andina hotel and the town of Cusco to anyone traveling through the region.

One tip: Perhaps print out a map or directions to the hotel prior to arriving; our taxi driver was not familiar with the address or the hotel name. This was no problem, though, as he got close to the destination and then stopped to ask a police officer.

Close to all things in downtown Cusco but on a quieter (Union) street. The hotel offers a wonderful buffet breakfast (included in the room price), great choices for dinner at reasonable prices and a very helpful hotel manager and staff. Great price value on the rooms. We would definitely stay there again. No complaints. The Terra Andina is a little gem of 35 rooms total.
Terra Andina hotel is a wonderful colonial mansion in the Historic District of Cusco. We stayed here for six nights in January 2013.

We were picked up from the airport for a complimentary transfer to the hotel. Upon arrival at the hotel we received a full personal briefing on the hotel, the location, and altitude sickness. The staff maintained this attentive and personal approach throughout our stay. A staff member showed us to our room, which had more than we could ask for: beautiful decorations, comfortable bed, lock box/safe, large dresser, flat-screen TV, hairdryer and it was very clean.
The hotel is conveniently located two blocks from the colorful San Pedro (central) Market, one block from a modern supermarket and about seven blocks from the main square, Plaza de Armas.

Breakfast every morning starts at 5:00 am, which is great for those early tours and trips to Machu Picchu. It includes fresh fruit, eggs made to order, yogurt, granola and quinoa, breads, ham, cheese, bacon, sausage, pancakes, coffee, and fresh juices, all you could possibly need. There is always free coca tea available in the lobby.
We were surprised to discover that the hotel had some great food in the restaurant for evening meals. They served quality dishes and the presentation was superb. The kitchen offers western meals in addition to classic Peruvian dishes. Again, the presentation was beautiful and we were very happy to stay in to eat. The dining area decoration is colonial as you are sitting in a rustic courtyard.

The sheets and bathrooms were always clean. The bed was warm and comfortable, and a space heater, which we did not need, is provided. We enjoyed constant hot water both in the shower and the bathroom service. This was only one of two hotels we used over a month-long trip in Peru, Bolivia and Ecuador that provided any drawer space for temporary storage of your clothing. All the other hotels obliged you to “live out of your suitcase.”

Some may be bothered by the noise, a common problem we encounter in almost all hotels we used. If you are an early riser this is not an issue, but if you prefer to sleep in it was nothing that inexpensive earplugs couldn't block out.
The hotel also kept some of our luggage in custody during our trip to Machu Picchu and when we returned, the luggage was already installed in the room.

Terra Andina has a small catalogue of tours to choose from, but an outside vendor, not the hotel staff, provides these tours. We did one, the Cusco city tour (small van of people). We had some confusion regarding the additional charges to access two sites on the tour that we mistakenly thought were covered in the overall cost of the tour.
All in all, we had a great time at this hotel. We are experienced travelers in South America and we were delighted to have stayed at Terra Andina.

Room Tip: Rooms away from the courtyard eating area may be quieter in the early morning hours.

Terra Andina is a cool colonial mansion in the Historic District. We stayed here for five nights in January 2013 (4 people in 2 rooms).

Upon arrival we recieved a full personal briefing on the hotel, the location, and altitude sickness. The staff maintained this attentive and personal approach throughout our stay: arranging tours, calling taxis, receiving and paying for pictures we ordered, etc.

The hotel is conveniently located two blocks from the San Pedro (central) Market and seven from the main square, Plaza de Armas.

Breakfast every morning starts at 5, which is great for those early tours and trips to Machu Picchu. It includes fresh fruit, eggs made to order, yogurt, granola and quinoa, breads, ham, cheese, bacon, sausage, pancakes, coffee, and fresh juices--just about all you need. There is always free coca tea in available in the lobby.

The sheets and bathrooms were always clean, but dustballs under the bed and old, dead mold (i.e., not live and growing) stains in the shower could be better cared for. The bed was warm and comfortable, and a space heater provided plenty of heat.

My main problem with the stay was the noise. We stayed in room 210 and could hear everything that went on in the courtyard and hallways: clinging dishes being set up for breakfast at 4:30, parents yelling at their kids to hurry up at 6 am, etc. We thought it was just the hallways until someone moved into a room apparently behind our bathroom; we could hear their conversations and showers booming through the walls. Nevertheless, it was nothing that earplugs couldn't block out. It may just have been our room; our other guests in 302 did not complain of noise.

I would stay here again and bring earplugs.
